Vista - HOWTO
Hey Guys,
Just a quick place holder for getting your card to work under Vista...First Rule of thumb....DON'T INSTALL WINDOWS UPDATES
It breaks the huawei cards (and only the huawei card....so far)
Will update thread ASAP.
HUAWEI E620:
Download the software from http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/doc/list.do?type=-1&id=305 (normal install). Extract and install the software by running setup.exe. Once installed, insert the card and Vista will prompt you for some drivers. Select the option to install from another location, and point the installer to "C:\Program Files\Huawei\drivers\WinXP"
You will need to do this three times, once for the card and twice for the modems
Once that is done, create a new dialup connection and dial to *99# and all should be well.
Another way is to install just the INF files. Extract the huawei software and locate the INF files. Check under Device Manager for the Unknown devices and "Update the drivers" to the hauwei INF's
The info in this thread is taken from all over the web, including two threads on this forum - links to be added...
