Mbeki gets R90 million security wall

Just saw in a local paper Mbeki will be getting a R90 million security wall imported.

but as far as Mbeki is concerned we the citizens have a false perception about crime, but he gets a wall that will cost more than a few luxury homes.
 
For how many people can you build a luxury home with this kind of money not even to mention homes for the poor. And the PRESIDENT who wants to fight poverty builds a wall.
 
What about a wall costs R90 million exactly anyway? Who's paying for it?

I've skimmed through the Star, citizen and Business Day this morning and don't remember seeing this story, and I'm pretty sure I would've remembered a story about a freaking R90 million wall.
 
Really now? R90 Million for a wall? What, does it have machine guns attached to it??:D
 
Well the wall has to be imported because its a very special wall. You will recall that a few years ago a bergie (pronounced bergggggg - gie; a variety of homeless person endemic to Cape Town in the Western Cape, South Africa) climbed over teh security wall and entered the presidential comopound and was living there for a few days.

The problem is that Bergies are notoriously tricky customers and can basically climb over, or tunnel under any wall. The only way the president can be kept safe from begies is using the special wall that has been designed by scientist in white lab coats!!! But the wall is being built in Pretoria so I am not quite sure why the anti-bergie wall is being built...must have decided not take any chances

The problem is that the the wall needs to be made fo cheese....this is the only thing that can repell bergies...they hate cheese!! So the wall needs to be entirely composed of a special cheese that doesnt melt in the heat!!

For R90 million you can hire 10 armed guards for 75 years at a salary of R10000 a month. How can this wall possibly be justified?

Africa at it's best...Mbeki's voters are living in utter poverty, he does not acknowledge the crime problem, but he has to have a R90 million wall around his house...WTF
how many schools, hospitals, toilets, etc. could have been built with that money...

I dont understand why people still vote ANC

Reminds me of the the time there was an uproar about Mbeki's retirment house, initial reports were R 22 million, but later turned out to be R 3.5 million.

At the time I started the thread their was only a link available in afrikaans... And how many people here would be able to read/understand afrikaans :p

Sorry I still don't believe it. The link has no facts at all and I just cannot believe a wall running 400 meters? can cost R90 million...
