Is windows Vista' windows defender a good substitute for spyware removers, or should i keep my spyware doctor?

best thing to get rid of spyware is to get rid of IE and use Firefox or Opera.

Windows defender catches most of the spyware, but misses some of the adware. personally I prefer Spybot Search and Destroy

Spybot S&D isn't a permanent solution yet though?

It was still just a run once type of anti-spyware last time I used it. A real time set up is much better. I don't use Windows Defender though, I trust in my AV and Firefox.

you dont need a spyware remover if you use firefox

the advantage is most of these spyware removers actually plant kuk on your pc just so the program can find and you think wow this program is good and you buy it

microsoft designed one that you dont need to pay for and works better than anything else ive seen

yup EK im the same man
i use avg and firefox have not had spyware since i started using firefox

I can't say Windows defender is a very good anti Spyware program. All it really does is wash their hands from guilt when you press OK to install a program or make changes :P

I've disabled mine and installed XoftSpy SE :D

Spybot Search & Destroy is good for occasional use, but if you want real-time protection and scanning then you have to use AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5. It currently detects and removes/heals 715,021 forms of spyware and adware. It's available for a free 30-day trial from AVG's site, after which you only lose two features: Resident Shield and Automatic Updates. You can still update it and use it for scans in the same manner as Spybot Search & Destroy, except you are protected against over 14x as many threats.

Hope this helps! :)
