My MTN contract expires on 15 April and I have the age old problem of choosing the best phone for my price ~R150pm.

Would like some thoughts/recommendations on the N91 and K800i (already checked both on gsmarena). Both goes for R159pm on MyCall100. Feature wise N91 seems nicer, but I've read some nasty reviews about speed/crashes ect.

N91:
+3G +4Gig +Wifi +smartphone (Symbian OS)
-only 2MP camera -no 2nd video call camera (any want to stare at my feet?)
-slow? & too big?

SE K800i
+3G, +3MP camera, +BT v2, +Li-Po battery
-no EDGE (real bad considering current MTN 3G footprint)
-not smartphone
-need to buy M2 card

N73 = K800 + edge +smartphone
Alternatively I can transfer to vodacom and get the N73 from Smartcom Service provider @ R156pm.
N73 is R159pm + R1000 pay in on MTN!. Only problem is I really prefer MyCall100 over Weekender... Anyone know whether I can get the N73 for this price on MTN?

Depends on what u gonna use the phone for. Don't go with all the Buzz and advertisements.. as most of them are misleading anyway.. and then ppl end up buying a phone with lots and lots of features that they hardly use.

Buy a phone thats got the features that u need. meaning if u've got a Bluetooth headset or if u are gonna use one.. Then go for bluetooth technology on your phone.

Smartphone is only good if your gonna load a bunch of Office applications on it, or games.

3g video calling is only good if u actually have loads of friends or ppl at the office that u can call with this feature (or the wife / girlfriend or skelmpie)

Wifi (Wifi is useless if you don't have a Wifi router at home)

2-3MP Digital Camera (most of these phones that are 2MP and 3MP photo's look okay'ish, but they match up to a 3MP real digital camera*photo quality wize*)

GPRS,EDGE 3g, HSDPA etc... (If your area only supports GPRS or EDGE or, its nice to have a phone that can do 3g/HSDPA too. But seriously... Vodacom/MTN are crazy on the bundle prices.. and even worse on out-of-bundle i mean 500mb for R189 or 1gig for R289 , its nice for web-browsing etc.. but u don't need 3g or HSDPA to browse. 3G is fine for gaming too. Why need 1.8mbps when u've got a limited cap??)

I dont think you even know what symbian is!

K800i

I bought a k800i recently and love it...only 1 gripe and it's not even the phone's fault!!! MTN wanted to charge me R4500 for the phone, but found it at Game for the R3599. Only prob is that I have an MTN contract and this is a vodafone branded phone and therefore can not use internet as the settings are "locked" to Vodacom. Very irritating that they still try to trap us like this!!!
