Telkom confident new offerings “will revolutionise broadband in South Africa”

Telkom recently released their Do Broadband bundled ADSL offering, which “will revolutionise broadband in South Africa”. Telkom further said that their 4 Mbps trial was successful and that it is here to stay.


This is according to Steven Hayward, Managing Executive Retail Marketing at Telkom.

“The bundle, which combines DSL access and the Internet Service Provider (ISP) Account, also offers consumers huge savings and a host of other value added services to enhance the broadband experience of our customers,” Hayward said.

Shut up you twit Hayward. A R12 saving is not huge.

As for the writer of this article, how can you compare 384 + 2GB with 384 + 1GB and say it is a 37% price reduction, well guess what it is a 100% bandwidth reduction!

Also... this doesn't really answer any of the normal questions like:

What happens when you're capped? (new phone line as well as new username?)
What about local bandwidth?

etc.

With lies about the anti-competitive nature of these bundles, and the small fact that there is still ~R100.00 for line rental that has to be added, I expect Stevie Hayward could soon be hated as much as Ivy is.

My advice to Stevie Hayward is to stop eating that manure that the beast must be feeding him in the Telkodemonopolies canteen, and maybe his arithmetic will improve - Stevie might even start telling the truth for a change - anything is possible...
 
A month ago Hayward was telling his shareholders that there would be no more drastic ADSL cuts, now he puts out a press release claiming 37% reductions.

I realise that the 37% figure is a bit dubious, but he's either lying to his customers, or lying to his shareholders...

Someone's nose is as long as a, erm, telephone wire :D

I hate resorting to namecalling and cynicism, but Steven Hayward is either an incompetent idiot or has absolutely no morals.

You would think there is a limit to the amount of bull one person can spout before they refuse to be party to any more of it ... but old Stevie has time and time again shown what he thinks of consumers' intelligence.
