MWEB launches one-price ADSL, drops prices

cause the lack of information! people need to learn to understand that not everyone in this country understands our situation and to them they dont konw any better.

Rudi Jansen, CEO of MWEB, said that due to the launch of the self-install option for ADSL lines, MWEB could now own the ADSL installation process and the billing procedures for the line itself.

How?
Does Telkom bill them not you? How did MWEB get this right?
Does it include the R100 analogue line rental?
Does Telkom bill you for voice calls, or via MWEB?

Either way, if MWEB has managed to remove Telkom from the ADSL rental portion it opens the doors for others to do so too.
And, not having to spit, uhm speak, at a Telkom "customer service consultant" is worth the money.

Exactly! One of the biggest problems is the man in the street has no idea how he is being ripped off. By whichever communications company he chooses. All he sees are these wonderful ad's saying what great companies these are and how fabulous their prices are. In the meantime they all a bunch of d**kheads! :mad:
 
Mweb has NEVER been cheap.
A 23% decrease in price...WOW! (my ass) :confused:
Their current price 384 with 3gig is R380
Cybersmart ask R340 for the same, and many other ask less.
Mweb thinks because they have many hapless uniformed people still on dial up they can ween a little more out of the public.

I hate these big companies thinking they can ask more for a banana than everyone else...
 
Most of my friends stay with MWeb cos they need to keep their email addresses. Bunch of nonsense really. They pay almost double of what others do and they're happy with it. As long as they have their @mweb.co.za junkmail box.
 
LMFAO, 23% price drop and still one of the top 5 most expensive ISP's.

Oh well, something's gotta pay for those fancy commericals. Perhaps they can afford to add a desktop case to the "Internet company talking about broadband" commercial where the dude sits at a table with only a screen and schemes he knows IT. :D

Cybersmart do not have the added value of Mweb. That means a lot. But then again you get the same added values when you are a DSTV subscriber.

If you are referring to the encyclopedia, then I have one word for you: google :)

There is no added value, only the illusion of added value.
 
Not to defend MWeb, but their customers are less informed and hence they have to invest more in support, marketing etc. I am definitely all for better prices, and WebAfrica, Axxess, Cybersmart etc are doing a great job at it, but a large portion of the population don’t even know what ADSL is. The TV ads from MWeb and Telkom helps, but it comes at a price.

I guess I sound like a PR person for MWEB now…expensive bastards :D

I think the only reason people go for mweb is because of their advertising. I don't see many of these other isp's advertising on tv? Of course its still a rip off though and people will still sign up with them - they just don't know any better.
 
I find it interesting again, that they say one price offering but what they really mean is everything is the itemised on one bill. There is a difference and I really wished people would not keep accepting this nonsense. I am not sure I really cared that every component is billed separately, as long as the end combined price is realistic.
