Unlimited music downloads from Vodacom from tomorrow

Interesting service, are the downloads free though, you won't be charged per MB?

Yip, says so at the end ;):

Since the service is available through the Vodafone Live! platform there will be no additional charges for data which is used for downloading music or browsing the music portal.

there has to be some kind of catch. R25 a week download as much as you want. They will still charge you the data being send between you and vodacom

That could also be the case. I'll rather wait and see what other people say; who will be trying it out, before i consider doing it myself.

DRM, yuck. How very 2006 ;)

Does one have to sign a contract for this service? Or can you sign up, download all the music you want for a couple weeks, and then leave?

DRM? Would you buy a car limited to the usage of only one driver and one gas station?

ew.

It sounds like it...but I guess the question is whether the service will work (can you play music) if you dont pay?

A is ‘deluxe version’ however planned which will allow consumers to play music using MusicStation on their PC.

That would imply that the pc version would not need a live connection, however, the phrase ‘deluxe version’ may also mean 'considerably more expensive version' :)

if it's really free (which it's not) then drm is a minor issue. Drm can easily be removed.
