    TRENDnet = no good

    This post is half rant half inquiry - is there anyone that can recommend TRENDnet products because I have just about had it with them. My first exposure to TRENDnet was a TDM-C400 ADSL Router which would choke as soon as you open 50 P2P connections over it. No firmware updates for it...

    Vodacom won't fix my phone : liquid damage

    To be fair the phone was in the washing machine for a full wash cycle. Although I did disassemble it completely and left it in the sun to dry for two days. Guess they are very good at detecting water damage, the question is just how do they do it?

    A (VW) picture is worth a thousand words

    I just had to take this one cause it had so many things in it that came together at the same time. Pity I did not take a pic last Wednesday when I was in a 10km fun-run and passed a Polo with its hood up - oh the funny say things that could have come out of that :D

    Voice Call - Cell C gets the lines crossed

    Just checking if anyone else has experienced this - its very weird. The only person on Cell C that I call is my wife and I always use my Vodacom phone for that. On average its about 2 or 3 calls a day. However at least once, sometimes twice a month I will call her and someone else will answer...

    MWEB uncapped shaping Remote Desktop connections ?!

    I have recently configured my network at home so that I can remote desktop to my PC at home. I know that during the day shaped services on MWEB run at 10kb/s, which I can live with. My P2P is set not to exceed an upload rate of 16kb/s which should leave plenty of room on the 512kbps upstream I...

    Mweb just started shaping on FileSonic.com and ruined my day

    So I get home to find that the heavily shaped Oron and Rapidshare downloads I started this morning at 7am failed. My torrents also did very little since this morning cause they are shaped to 10kb/s. The only remaining joy and I have is a few downloads on FileSonic. They come blasting in at...

    MWEB shaping theory

    I recently had some time to check out how my 4mbps uncapped connection behaves during office hours and I think I maybe have found out how MWEB does shaping. From what I can see they pool all shaped services (webistes, p2p, newshosts) under the same speed limit. This is typically 10kb/s in...

    ADSL Routers - am I doing it right ?

    I don't know what router I should try next but I have had a bad streak now for a few weeks. Let me explain briefly. I got ADSL in April and used : (1st) a TrendNet TDM-C400 one port ADSL router connected to a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router. The TrendNet complete crapped out all HTTP...

    How much do dealers profit on trade-ins ?

    Earlier this week I traded in my 2006 Corsa Lite with 53,780km on the clock. It was pretty much in new condition since it had seat covers from the time it was bought. The only modifications I made was fitting 4 JVC speakers in the standard mounting pods (no cutting, kept it stock) since the...
