10 Mbps ADSL availability checker

Exactly what happened to me...

I have been told by numerous Hellkom staff that my line is 1 of those that will be upgraded. Yet this checker says "This service can not be converted to 10Mbps Fastest DSL at this stage. Please check again in future as we are continually upgrading the network."
My work ADSL line which is on the exact same exchange as my home line (031-267 ****) has already been upgraded. I don't think even Hellkom know what they are doing.

Hi, yes i also phoned and they confirmed that my exchange is ready for an upgrade.. the ADSL checker tool thingy also says i am not ready for an upgrade. however still no upgrade has taken place and telkoms 7 days period is long gone! I truly hate telkom! and i do everything in my power to avoid them as best as possible!!!!! Skrew you telkom!

I've just tested on Telkom's website about 6 telephone numbers in Constantia, Simon's Town, Hout Bay, Tokai and none supported - didn't find one that was.

Howzit Boeing and Airbus,

Both my DSL modems sync @ 4Mb /s (DGN2000 and DG834GT) sync @ 4 Mb/s.

My connection was extremely unstable (routers would hang, and need to be reset every couple of hours, could only connect @ 3 Mb/s), until I rewired all the extensions at home using CAT5e. Never had a problem since then.

Noticed a lot of Telkom guys around our exchange lately, but it looks like they are upgrading the mtn/vodacom Tower rather than the exchange. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Seems the upgrades are the exception rather than the rule. Again a publicity stunt from Telkom, much like their "Next generation network" ads not too long ago. When will these people learn that simply saying something does not make it true!
