But line has still not been upgraded still on 4 megs

Birch Acres also wont be upgraded even though I saw Telkom installing fibre and upgrading exchanges, FAIL Telkom style :rolleyes:
 
My ADSL line was down this morning when I awoke, phoned 0800375375 and the lady said Telkom are working at the exchange with upgrades and that our exchange supports 10Mb although the 10Mb ADSL Availability Checker still says it doesn't. Someone has to update the database for the Checker to be accurate.

Still on 4096 though. Walked over to the exchange and there is indeed two Telkom Vans parked outside. Something must be happening?

Our ADSL has been down since the weekend. TK mumbled something about an upgrade, but current speed is - zero

Will see what happens as soon as Telkom upgrade my line from 384kbps. Applied yesterday so hopefully it wont take too long.
 
Excellent service from Teracita Richards at the Telkom Store in N1 City Goodwood.

I applied to upgrade my line from 384kbps to 4mbps (Up to 10mbit) yesterday. 24hours later and its done and I'm syncing at down 10012/up 1024.

Excellent stuff.

No upgrade my side but what has happened in the interim is my upload speed on my 4096 connection is still reading 4096/640 just I am no longer getting 640 as before but rather 512 using speedtest.net.

I just called 10215 to see about my upgrade (032 205xxxx) and the dude says they are still working on those upgrades at the exchange. He couldn't provide an ETA. :(
 
Has this all gone quiet now? Is that it? Is it all over? I still have no upgrade - 021-557-****. So, now everybody is slowing down and nobody is saying anything more about it, so the pressure is off Telkom?

Sad.
 
No, I think everyone has just come to the realization that there's nothing more we can do about the upgrades. We all just have to wait till its our turn. No point in complaining, screaming or shouting, calling telkom asking for upgrades, because at the end of the day, they will decide when to upgrade the rest of us. Im also still waiting for my upgrade. But there's no point in me calling telkom to ask for it, because all im gonna get is, "It'll happen automatically Sir", or "Your exchange doesnt support 10mbs", or even "Your exchange hasnt been upgraded to Metro Ethernet". It's a waiting game now. Thats all anyone of us can do really.
 
George only planned for Oct/Nov maybe Sep - according to local Telkom staff - too vague
At least 4Mb circuits have switched over to MetroEthernet - hmmm - zzzzzz
