Windows Vista, 7 and Server 2008 no longer ship with HyperTerminal, here's my preferred replacement:

@sideswitch - That little command helped a lot. Previously I had to fire up the Cell C software to initialise the modem on my PC. Not any more! Now it connects directly from Network Connections, first time. Thanks! :)

I used HyperTerminal Private Edition 7 Trial - all I needed it for was for that one setting.

(this allows the modem to auto start)

I restarted the router, with modem inserted, and the modem was identified correctly and I can connect. I also manually entered the APN settings to connect to Cell C.

I am not certain its a DOS attack causing the router web server to crash but I thought it wise to enable the advanced security features of the router and I hope it does not crash again.

You see I have the Internet set to disconnect after 15 minutes idle and to connect on demand and when it crashes (usually while connected to the Internet) it means the router cannot disconnect after 15 minutes and it stays connected.

Just to report back on the router web server crashing... since enabling all the advanced security features of the TP-Link mr3220 router (ie DOS/Flood protection) I have not had the router crash on me once so I recommend enabling those settings if you are expieriencing the router web interface crashing on occasion and not being able to connect to it.

Do I really have to go through that whole hoop jumping exercise to get my MF668 to work on a router? Isn't there a router that just works out of the box?
 
Anyone have issues with the CellC D105? looking at getting one but not sure if it's really worthwhile or what my other options should be, not really looking for anything heavy duty, just really want to create a hotspot in the house. Also I hear there are stock issues and they're proving hard to get hold of, have tried a couple of CellC stores in the northern suburbs but nobody has stock.

Any advice welcome.
 
I bought one of the TP-link routers, I must say my connection is much more stable plugged into the router than directly to my laptop.

If you want to cover a large area with Wifi then I would give the D105 a miss. It has a very small footprint.

I have also had connection problems with the TL-MR3220 and Cell C MF668. Will try the settings and revert. I also have an issue with connecting my iBurst Desktop modem (the old white one) to the MR3220, has anyone else had similar issues? It connects, but I am unable to browse, or browsing is extremely slow.

You must set the MTU (and MRU if applicable) on your router to 1392, see here.
 
Cool, got the Tp-link MR3420 from Uniterm Direct(thanks!). I use a ZTE MF668, which wasn't recognized at first but I loaded the BIN for the MF190 and then it picked it up. Restart and we're in business! ;D
 
What router would work on the cell c 5 gig offer? I want to connect via WiFi and access PSN.

Does the netgear MBRN 3000 suffice?
