A friend of mine is testing the E367 and MR3220 with the "June" firmware. The connection so far being tested (about 14 hours) is stable. But the router does not identify the modem correctly. It only shows the modem as "3G modem" and not "E367".

I can confirm that E367u2 works great with MR3420 (110617 fw) as well. Identified as 3G Modem (or USB Modem, not sure). Here in sweden one of the operators offered E367u2 with one week unlimited usage for about 11€ this summer and E367u2 is supposed to be capable of 28.8 Mbit/s as opposed to E372's 32 Mbit/s. During the week that was included with the E367u2 i managed to use about 35GB and stress test it with torrents, video streaming etc. and the E367u2/MR3420 combo was rock solid with top speeds of about 23/3.5 Mbit/s. I got the same figures with the modem connected to the computer. As i have seen reports of MR3420 max throughput of 22 Mbit/s (wlan) the E367u2 is a good temporary solution while TP-Link get their act together and sorts support for E372. If you can get your hands on a cheap e367u2 that is!

Hey folks!

Think i've cracked it with the TP-Link sniffer tool. I've only had my E372 up and running with the MR3420 for a couple of hours but so far so good. I'm gonna post the binfile after som more testing. Probably later tonight or early tomorrow!

Ok, i've tested it a bit more and it seems stable enough. So here are the bin file for Huawei E372 to work with TP-Link MR3420.

EDIT: Now it's the correct bin file. Sorry for the hick up!

I wish I could say the same for my K3565-Z and the MR3420. I tried the sniffer tool a couple of times now and still no luck ...

OK, thanks a lot for that.

I have everything installed, same router firmware as yours, but of course the E372 firmware could be different (mine is a Vodafone K4605 that I flashed with E372 firmware).

Seems to be working fine, will test and provide feedback.

Well, i had to try like 7 or 8 times before i found a working bin file so it might be worth the effort and keep trying. But it is a bit of a hassle when the process takes about 25 minutes each time :erm:

Don't know why TP-Link can't make more of an effort to provide drivers ???

But thanks, MmmMagnus, it has helped me a lot !

You're welcome Jola. Dont give me to much credit though , i just signed a 24 month contract and got a "free" E372 as part of the deal so i reeeaaallly wanted E372 compability myself.

Just buy me a beer next time i'm in your neck of the woods!

AMEN TO THAT ... This is what TP-Link replied to me - it seems like excuses NOT to help customers ...

I’m sorry that the information on the box mislead you to get a card which is not compatible. 3G modem card indeed has difference between two different areas.
We may have tested the same modem card in another place, but not yours.
You could either contact your reseller and see if you could exchang this for another 3G router which works with your modem, or at my side we could try to solve your compatibility problem via our R&D. But 3G issue is special, it takes quite long time, weeks or months. If such long time is not acceptable for you, I’m sorry but we’ve tried our best.

In contrast to them, Intellinet mailed me on a regular basis to help solve the switching off issue with the K4505-Z and it turned out the problem is with the modem. I hate that Intellinet doesn't make a 3G router that will allow speeds of more than 7.2Mbps - if they had, I would never have gone for the TP-Link knowing what I know now. Since when must the consumer sort out the shortcomings of the manufacturers of a product?

I realise your frustration but don’t think your comments are fair or that they are a true reflection on the TP-LINK modem support, at present, the TP-LINK 3G routers has some of the most comprehensive modem support in the world. Dealing directly with a manufacturer of this size will almost never yield the desired results (try contacting Huawei or ZTE directly and see how they handle your support request!) and I don’t think it’s the correct channel to follow especially when there is local support on the product.

This is why I’ve posted on numerous occasions on this topic that if anyone is having trouble getting a particular modem supported, that they rather contact Uniterm Direct who are the distributors for the brand in SA, I can assure you that in 99% of the cases we will get your modem supported, the majority (not minority) of 3G modems in the SA market are supported, if however we aren’t able to get your modem supported we are always willing to give the customer a full refund. You commented previously in this topic that you were having issues and I said to you that you can bring the modem to us and we will help you get it supported.

You’re commenting on poor support from TP-LINK followed by a comment that the modem was actually faulty, shouldn’t your gripe then be with the modem manufacturer and not the router manufacturer?

Hi kernel - this is not a rant against you or Uniterm or anyone at Uniterm - you guys are very helpfull and that is appreciated.
Your response is also of an uninformed nature seeing that you read this post in isolation (seemingly). The problem I have is not with the unreliable K4505-Z, it is with a reliable, working (albeit a bit slow) K3565-Z modem. The K3565-Z has not given me one day's worth of problems in the past with the Intellinet. It was the K4505-Z that was problematic.

I disagree. My comments are fair enough seeing that I am not getting service from the manufacturer. Intellinet could spare some time to help out and I thought that TP-Link would do the same - I was sadly mistaken although I did offer to help them trouble-shooting the problems with a debug or whatever other method can be used. That quote in my previous post was their response. I responded in another mail offering to try and assist them to solve my problem.

As far as the local support goes, I spoke to a gentleman at your offices who was very helpfull, but the bin files sent did not resolve the problem. He did offer (as you do) for me to come in to get the problem resolved - I told him that I can only do that if I am in the area again and the conversation ended on a friendly mature fashion. That was when I consulted the manufacturers (and now you know what their response was)

Ouch ... I hope I won't have to try that many times. I will give it another go over the weekend ...

OK, well the offer still stands to assist you in getting the modem sorted out.

I want to add a new configuration router+usb modem, that I use.
Router: ASUS WL-500gP V2
Modem: Huawei E169/K3520
Firmware: Oleg's based custom firmware
- USSD support in web interface
- routers supported: ASUS WL-500gx/WL-550gE/WL-500gp/WL-500W/WL-320gE/WL-320gP/WL-330gE/WL-500gp V2/WL-520gU
- many usb modems supported
- useful complete How to (if you want to add a USB HDD to the router on which to run linux apps)
- download manager and other apps on router (if there is a HDD attached)

I personally made a bunch of scripts with which I can:
- send/read SMSs, make calls and edit SIM phonebook from PC (I'm still working on making calls; can only ring, no answering)
- monitor from PC cell ID, signal strength, data rate, data flow, qos rate, session time, latency (ping), radio mode (UMTS/HSDPA)

OK, well the offer still stands to assist you in getting the modem sorted out.

That is great thanks kernel. The moment I am in your valley again, I will pop in ...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand ... I got a surprise in my inbox just now!
TP-Link just came back to me with a "Bus Hound Tool". There is a guide included and it seems as if we (TP-Link and I) will start a trouble-shooting process to get the modem working. I will most certainly post a retraction if the service is going to turn out the same as with Intellinet (and to be quite honest, I hope I can post a retraction SOON).

So this weekend I will be busy hounding, logging and sniffing!!
