And you get a little bit more "future-proofing" with new modems and firmware updates.

You can buy them through zapsonline - someone I know has one and it works just fine with the E1820.

Geez...and I've just bought the TP Link MR 3420. Wish I'd bought that one instead. 1 km range? I could start a private network for my whole suburb.

We haven't tested the range, so I don't know about that. :D

Please advise....If I use the Airlive Air3G with the Huawei E1820 USB modem along with Cell C's up to 21.6Mbps download package, does the Airlive Air3G support HSPA+ 4G 21.6Mbps speeds?

The Dovado 4GR states specifically that it supports HSPA+ / 4G / 21mbps. Does the same apply to the Air3G?

Thanks

The Huawei E1820 does support the 900 Mhz UMTS which Cell C uses with their new " 4G " network, and the Air3G does support this modem. So to answer your question yes it should support connection speeds of upto 21.6 Mbps since it depends on the 3G modem not the router.

Thanks for the response. That was the answer I was expecting when I contacted Air Live directly:

Q.
Does the Airlive Air3G support HSPA+ "4G", up to 21.6Mbps speeds? I see that the E1820 is a compatible modem, but maybe your firmware does not support "4G" modem speeds?

A.
Dear Sir,

Thanks for your mail.

Due to the current firmware version, Air3G provide 3G link speed, and It is up to 7.2mbps.

Thank you.

Best Regards,
Airlive Tech Support Team

So maybe a firmware update will change this in future

There are local distributors for CNet, so I guess they should be available for ~R500/R800.

Hi I would like to buy a router for around R500/R600.. Needed for the e1820 to share connection with xbox 360 and 2 laptops?
Which one would be best for me, and where can I buy it?

ie: the mr3420 on bid or buy is not available anymore, are there any other stores?
What do you guys recommend?
