There are so many of us 5G premium users that are experiencing the same problem and getting no answer as to when it will be repaired or that there is even a problem. Meanwhile their ceo claims 5G is coping well with the demand lol.

I feel exactly the same!

It would be so much better if they actually admit there is an outage and state in which areas... it would go a long way!

I also feel like under paying on a pro rata basis! Its bullish!t that you get charged in full for a premium service with so many issues.

The Rain reps, on all of the social media contact points just take your details and that is the last you ever hear from them.

Mine is also real sketchy in Pretoria North. Max I have been able to get in lockdown was 180mbps. And that was the best. When its "good" it's around 80. But regularly under 20 and at times under 5.

I was forced to swith over to my phone's MTN hotspot several times during online meetings due to dropped connectivity.

@werfie I am close to you, inbox me some contact details so we can share Rain problems ... mine has been dead since yesterday 3pm

After checking this thread

I managed to get my connection to be stable.

I logged to the administration interface and navigated to System > Antenna

I then changed the mode to "Fixed" and Antenna Combine Index to "3" (you may need to experiment with this number to find your sweet spot).

I hope this helps someone.

Thanks so much @Gaijin - I tried all of it, and my connection is still dead as a door knob!

I suppose you need some sort of a connection in order to "fine tune" it.

Yesterday I have gone so far as to make a video for the network department - so they can see the problem!

In the video you can clearly see that the router makes a connection to the tower every now and then, but then it goes down again.

the two cell tower ID's it connects to are:
Cell ID: 207008771
Cell ID: 82667807

Just a quick further note ...

Last night there was a Facebook post on the local area group - I identified 4 other people with exactly the same problem as mine.

There was however one user - whose connection did work!

It boggles my mind.

Well to make you feel better ,
I've been having issue's since January , I have an open ticket with them still that i logged back then , and i'm still nowhere , I have had tech's out, and the "Senior" network guy's involved and i still haven't really gotten anywhere , I was also promised a credit\refund for the times i was completely down , and that also never happened , I'm on one of the "Old 5G" packages where we still had to "Buy" the ODU's .

I have only recently set this up (Network Tests below) , but this is what i have been experiencing , note however , that this does not show the Latency , packet loss , This is especially bad when you are like me and need to work from home , MS Teams , Gotomeeting , Jabber are all horrible experiences , people cant hear you , your calls drops , remote sessions disconnect . It's just a really bad overall experience, as you will see from the below results , the speeds are a lot better during the really early hours of the morning 02:30am - 04:30am but i'm pretty sure that helps no one ,The tests below are run at 30min intervals , It is run directly from my router , so there is nothing in the way that could interfere , so more or less a clean break from the router to the ODU then out to the net , It's also connected via a CAT7/SFTP Cable , Which is totally overkill but nothing should be able to affect it and should have more than enough capacity to carry what get's pushed through .

Hey just want to know what program did you use to track the speed tests like that? is it a download or is it something installed on your router

Howsit ,
Yes it is installed on an ASUS RT-AC5300. I've seen some guy's trying to install it on the smaller routers but running into issue because of the resources available on them so you can give it a try , But wouldn't really recommend. I have an SSD connected to it for Cache overflow \ Swap , and additional storage .

OK Cool I'am running a dlink DIR-868L, My Networking abilities are close to zero but getting there slowly haha, no idea what Cache overflow is assuming something to do with storage of information generated by the router. Non the less Ill play around with my router and actually read the manual as it seams to be quite a fancy router maybe i can get something done as i want to track the internet disconnects with rain as it boggles my mined how and why these outages are happening.

My service is doing exactly the same working fine for a week then yesterday just gone. Screenshot looks the same as DewaldG. I also sent a direct message hoping to get assistance soon.

Welcome to the group @fliepfliep ... mine has been like that since 17 April.

Technicians were here Tuesday 5 May ... and there is still no fix or hope in site.

My advice is for you to tell them to stop billing you.
