Are you sure that you have definitely turned your Business Optimisation off?
 
I'm a little concerned that a few clients are posting poor Business performance and then good capped. From the tests we've performed we're not seeing that this should be the issue, so I just want to verify that you definitely have Business Optimisation turned off, and that you are also only connecting from a single connection (which should be the case for most Business accounts). Please compare realtime speeds (e.g. speedtest) so I can clearly see the one speedtest vs other. It may actually be better to rather send this to me by PM with your username so I can do a quick investigation on my side.

I can confirm business optimization is off on my end.

I have tested after hours and during working hours and my results are similar during these times. Capped on the other hand is perfect.

I also have a fixed ip address, could it be an issue with throughput on your vpn ?

Essentially the only differences between Capped and Business are the following:

1) Rate limit for line speed (i.e 2Mbps, 4Mbps)
2) 1 Single Concurrent connection (vs 10 on Capped)
3) Business Optimisation elective (to aggressively shape torrents which can be turned on and off in ClientZone)

Since just after 8 this morning it has been running at 50% of the speed I had the whole weekend.
I will send a PM later, but this **** must get sorted out. Into the 3rd month of this crap and I am sick and tired of running test after test after test when it is something on your side that is screwing this up.

It is NOT a line issue as confirmed by three different Telkom techs who have checked.

At least you're acknowledging we're not all crazy - that's a step in the right direction for sure.

Thing is, speedtests show similar results between the capped test account, and the business uncapped account I have myself. However, there is a CLEAR and distinct difference between streaming between the two, and I basically cannot even use my business uncapped for this any more.

Also, last night, I felt like I had R49 to waste and got the 10GB capped data account, but I still had the stuttering. Switched back to the test account of AfriGenie again, and again all issues were gone.

My logic says that one of 2 things are happening here:
- His account is optimised differently because he's an employee, or
- Something with my actual whole Afrihost account - not my ADSL data account login alone - is being de-prioritised, or has some incorrect settings at Afrihost/MTN's side.

Obviously, I'm not the only one with this problem, so maybe some setting was changed universally.

Either way, it's not ideal at all.

The account that gave you is a stock-standard Capped account, so I do find it curious that you are seeing such a big difference between the two Capped accounts.

Quick question, is your Static IP VPN remaining connected as you switch between accounts?

This is what I'm dealing with switch to another isp and world loads with 0 problems :/ Afrihost has completely gone downhill since about 8 this morning.

When i do my tests, the business account is connected to the VPN.

When i test with the capped account i disable the VPN.

Would you be able to run a traceroute to that server you are connecting to? I will need to see exactly where the latency jump starts happening.
 
If i take my capped account and use it on the same router that is using the business account i get the following results

Very curious indeed. What protocols can you change on my total Afrihost account, that may cause any account on my username to be buffery as **** on streaming?

Can you please send me a PM with the Capped and Business Uncapped usernames that you are connecting with? I am going to have to check why there is such a difference between the two.
 


This is what I'm getting when connecting through my VPN to London with OpenVPN encryption. Other ISP's get average 6Mbps

It is clear from these 2 traces that Capped and Business ARE different. Look closely and you will see how the routing is completely different.

On another note, when is AH going to peer locally so that streaming can work as it should???
It is quite ridiculous to be linking all the way to the UK for Youtube, when EVERY other ISP uses Google's local servers.
