9 minutes past midnight the connection died.
Not slow..... dead. As in no connection at all.
Morning everyone
Just a general message here to put everyone in the picture.
We continued to work on the network classification issue I mentioned, and we saw some major improvement, especially in the North, which was our "test" subject to test and monitor the changes we made. The changes should now be rolled out to all networks and we're seeing much better performance from an overall network perspective. I don't think the work is entirely done, but the bulk of what we felt needed to be addressed looks like it's behind us.
I would really appreciate if you guys could continue to pop through a speedtest and traceroute from your end, whether performance is good or poor, so we can report that back to the team and get this done as quickly as we can. Please also mention what your line speed should be.
You know I was asked to post tracerts last night, and no one ever got back to me. Please explain why we are asked to continually do tests when we never get feedback? This relates to posting tests here, sending PMs, sending tests to Critical Care, your companies communication with clients is extremely poor. We are not all home users, and as a business user, I or my staff cannot sit all day doing tests if it resolves nothing.
All delay tactics! Keep you busy while they try fix a borked network! As long as they can keep you on the line... they're got you right where they need you! Surely all of you should be compensated for all the network testing you are doing for them free-of-charge??

I'm asking for test so we can get a broad idea of what is being experienced and give our team feedback. I don't think it would be practical to reply to every test submitted, because we're making broad network changes. If the changes are finalised, then we can start drilling down to specific issues on a case by case basis.
No, you should respond, we are paying customers, and we should be kept in the loop. We send tests to Critical Care and even they don't respond, and if they do its a very generic email, and in the end nothing gets resolved.
If you don't respond we get the impression nothing is being done, if I look at my speed I can see nothing is being done, and this results in frustration.
If I have a look at your support staff on your website, you have enough people to be able to give us the feedback we should get.
Well what an eventful night. Production deploy planned for midnight. Then internet dies for 2 hours. PPP link down, so definitely Afrihost and their "constant" upgrades or some Authentication issue.
Suppose its only a Business account so no one uses it in the evening.
I asked for feedback here in this thread, so I'm not referring to support tickets. Obviously every support ticket is responded to as quickly as possible. I do believe that Critical Care have been trying to assist you for a while, and they will continue to do so, so I think your comment here is a little misleading.
I disagree. I am talking about Afrihost in general the communication with clients is poor. Accept that this is the case and make improvements. I am not the only one complain about lack of feedback or poor communication.
We did rollout a lot of changes and that may have cause some clients to lose connectivity. A reboot should have resolved this, if it was a background policy change.
There wasn't an authentication issue as such though. Could you connect from a different account?

We were told to reboot our routers twice last night, which resulted in speeds dropping even more, we posted test results, and then nothing. So as client's we sit wondering what is going on, not good enough.
Agreed. AfriMan, why no feedback, even though we are asked to give feedback via PM's as well, AFTER giving feedback here?
On a related note, "Afrihost's Big Book of Excuses" is on my Christmas wishlist.![]()
