I keep forgetting where in the country you are, sorry :(
We made some changes on the South IPC which looks like it's spiking the latency here. It should normalise in a few mins.

FYI, I am connecting to the wrong ESR on the MTN Network, I PM'ed AfriGenie about this but got no real response

I used to connect Via: 105.236.10.1 (Jan 2014 to Dec 2014 with 16ms response time)
Now I connect Via 105.237.134.1 (Jan 2015 to present with 32ms response time)

That's pretty odd, MTN/ Telkom may have made some changes to the DSLAM though. Connecting to the wrong ESR takes all kinds of mis-configuration.
Regardless, did the Genie log a fault for you?

No he didn't,

Not a Telkom problem Vox, Internet Solutions, Mweb, Telkom & CyberSmart all connect to the correct IPC's and ESR's from here, on MTN from Richmond KZN is making it's way to the JHB IPC.

Charl from Telkom confirmed and ran through the IMAX here, I tried each network on the same line so he could trace the accounts route, he said only the MTN account is routing incorrectly and MTN need to correct this from their end.

Just out of curiosity, would you be able to pin point in which province each of those ESR's are? This would would give a better idea.

Unfortunately that is always the default response, the problem is everywhere except AH. Eventually a problem is found, but fixed but it only effected a hand full of users so there was no need to make an issue out of it.

hey Afriguy
can you explain to me why the latency is so high on an ah account but when we change over to a different isp account there is no problems same line same exchange
it is not possible to play games on a ah account anymore

why dont you buy some more ipc so we can have some peace of mind and you can be trusted again
what is your contention ratio 500:1 and what region is working properly tonight

It does indeed. Lots of concurrent connections is the easiest way to get it done. Dropbox is a good example, if you upload something the latency goes crazy.

Could you shoot me a PM with your info a few tests please?

I already posted tests last night. Which other tests do you need?

I think a more direct approach is needed ....

Afriperson ... Cut the cr@p

The latency is screwy, please fix it. I am quite a few people from all sorts of areas would appreciate it.

May I ask - the "fix my line" on cz is gone my side - thus I am unable to do any port recreates. Is there an alternative besides phoning in to AH?

Congestion early hours of Sunday morning?

Well honesty I have no idea whats going on there. It was happening late on Thursday night as well, even when I switched accounts.'

Edit: Tried another account now and still the same thing...
The weird thing is that its not consistently high, its spiking on the second hop, its up and down all the time.

Could be the exchange is messed up due to loadshedding.

That doesn't make sense though. Remember that we can only look at routing once you reach out network and the ESR level is at the Telkom BRAS before you reach our RADIUS/IPC, so we really can't affect how it routes prior to that. If any changes need to be made, it's on Telkom's network. I've already seen that they route their own Telkom ISP traffic to different routers so that during loadshedding sometimes only Telkom ISP accounts work because they sit on different infrastructure.

I see you're posting on multiple threads here. I get that you are not happy, but can you maybe stick to the thread that's relevant to the product which you use? Which product of ours do you use?

Jeez dude... you must be fed-up with doing tests and getting no resolution.

I don't believe this is an IPC issue. I could be wrong of course, but I believe the problem is that a recent update to shaping rules and we've seen performance dip since then, with an increase in latency. I'm still gathering more info as this happened while I was away. As I get more specific details I'll give updates here.
