Hi AfriGenie.
You assured for the above treaceroutes.
Please have a look.

Whats with you guys.

Now you want to me to leave too?

I had a speed issue recently. The line has synced at 4 megs for MWEB, OW and AH - for years mind you!!

Now, suddenly I get this schidt from you.

Good Day

I trust you are well.

I have tested your DSL line and it is currently syncing at 2624 kbps, due to high a level of attenuation on the line and your distance from the exchange which is preventing your line from reaching higher speeds, I recommend that you downgrade your DSL line to a 2048 Kbps line.

Have a great day and please let me know if I can help with anything else!

Warm regards

At the moment we're not locking your old account. However, since you are using the same data allocation, I'm not sure if you can connect concurrently. You can definitely switch between accounts though, for the time being.

I would definitely try AfriGreen. My experience so far has been really good. The technical bugs we've come across have been solved very quickly, cos we have insight into the system to get a lot more info and make changes directly.
My first Afrigreen vs. Afribusiness uncapped experience. :):):confused::sick::sick::sick:

And magically .... My line is syncing quite fine at 4 Megs this morning.

Answers like the one I got above in posts #422 and #423 dont help.

That apathetic attitude may work for some customers, but its not the right thing to do.

Try to help the customer before giving up.

Bottom line, ny issue is solved thank you.

The second hop is troubling. We definitely don't like to see anything over 30ms maximum, but usually closer to 10. That additional latency compounds to really affect overall experience :(

I get your point here, I do think there is a weird thing that happens with your line, we definitely don't really understand that technical dynamic.

I appreciate that you had a poor experience, but I think wrong or right, the person who you named in your post has as much right to dignity and privacy as you or me. I would really appreciate if you would remove mentions of him by name. If anyone wants to complain about a specific service experience, let's rather do that via PM. I don't think anyone on this forum would want to be named on a public forum, so let's afford the guys in the call centre the same. We're all human, we all make mistakes, and we all have wives, kids, families, etc that we go home to at the end of the day :(

Would you mind posting your line stats?
Also, a lot of areas are currently having telkom maintenance, I also blamed Afrihost before I left but then saw the techies.
Maybe they'll roll out the upgrades 4->10 in a couple of months.

No one even replied to my post on the previous page, how do I go about cancelling and getting my money back for these 2 months of ****ty service? Do I need to downgrade my package before I cancel so I don't have to pay for another month of internet I can't use?

Sorry about that... That's not cool of us.

You will be able to cancel your ADSL package in the ClientZone, you will just need to go to Connectivity, choose your package then select Edit Package and then the cancel option.

Have you been able to try out one of our AfriGreen accounts yet?

No I signed up but thus far haven't received details, I was sort of hoping for a chance to try it out, but I'm not sure I can wait much longer. I was happy with Afrihost until recently and I hate to jump ship, but this is getting a bit much, I hope it gets better when you guys have sorted the network, but I don't think there are any guarantees at this stage?

Tell me more about the vacation option on the accounts? I would not mind to make use of the feature while I tested out another ISP.
Maybe give you guys a chance to sort out your network.

Drop me a PM with your ADSL username and I'll get generate your AfriGreen details quickly!

Holy cow! I noticed earlier that my typical download speed had increased to around 950KB/s, from the usual 750KB/s. Did some checking and my line now has a maximum rate of 18Mbps! And I'm syncing at 10Mbps instead of 8, with a new speed of 7.84Mbps. Clearly there are barely any overheads at 8Mbps now. Awesome stuff.

Unfortunately the SNR is still 6.0dB, so I assume upgrading to 20Mbps is out of the question.

Yeah... I probably won't recommend pushing the sync any higher than that for the moment...

I received a letter from Telkom earlier this year saying that they're investigating the possibility of fibre in my area. Maybe this is a build up to that, with the exchange being allocated more bandwidth or something.

Speaking of which - Afrihost, why you no fibre?

I'm not at liberty to confirm nor deny your allegations.

Still a 4Mbps line... I'm certainly crossing my fingers that you see that max rate jump!
