Hey Afrifella,
uh... <.< Afrigreen account? XD
Tonight my ping is horrendous to say the least...
Local ping to Afrihost server - 180ms
Ping to EU (Smite server) - 408ms
Anything happening which we must know about?
I see the 1Meg business bundle is R297, R100 cheaper than before, is this correct?
Yeah, 1Mbps Business Bundle is R297pm![]()
When was this change done as the august invoice shows R397 deducted.
That's not looking good at all![]()
Latency is too high for a local test. Do you have an Afrigreen account to test?
Yeah tell me about it, nope no afrigreen account...
Drop me a PM with your DSL username, I'll hook you up![]()

Hooked up with the Afrigreen account...
So far performance is miles better than my standard account has been for the last week or so.
Speedtest on Afrigreen (as apposed to my normal above)
View attachment 298196
Game latency to EU servers are sub 300ms (as apposed to 450+) even with blizzzard stating they are having latency issues right now.
Youtube streaming 480p flawlessly again...
Snappy webpage browsing...
I hope it stays this way

Props to the Afrihost reps on this site!
In my experience they are the only one's to sort your problems out...
Keep up the awesomeness!
PS: if you want me to email your 'higher ups' with appraisal, drop me a PM ;D

You guys might want to look into your Battle.net gaming performance on the regular business accounts. The trace route to Blizzard's EU server is slow and erratic compared to Afrigreen, despite what the latency figures might suggest.
-snip
Edit: Same traceroute on Web Africa:
Not sure if battle.net have had their latency issues sorted - the results look pretty erratic across the board.
If you do see a better performance over on Afrigreen I'd suggest just using that account in the mean time

Diablo 3 is mostly unplayable on Afrigreen in the evenings though. That's why I started loading up other accounts. It's happened for quite a few nights in a row now. Some people have said that SNR deeply impacts Battle.net online performance, and my SNR of 6.0dB might be impacted by the as-yet-undetected increase in exchange congestion in the evenings. I find this strange though as I have no issues with games outside Battle.net.
The regular Afrihost account didn't improve matters, but the Web Africa account worked perfectly. The weird thing is that I still had intense latency the first night I had issues and switched to WA. Afrigreen became usable for D3 late last night.
I've also heard claims that it's not normal to have great attenuation and terrible SNR. Should I get Telkom to come around and look at the setup in my property?
Edit: I'm assuming the problem isn't with Blizzard's server in this case because the other MyBB clan members aren't having issues.
I do know that battle.net can be finicky, but I personally don't use their services so can't really speak from my experiences there. 6dB SNR is right on the edge, but I can't seem to think how that can be linked to a poorer experience.
If you're hooked up via a POTS filter (including other jacks) with no noise on the voice line things should be OK. What sync speed are you currently on?
Syncing at 10Mbps. The connection is stable and downloading, streaming, non-Blizzard gaming and browsing are all perfect.
I'm pretty sure I've got a POTS filter connected, and the landline makes no noise if I pick it up and listen.

Having the same problems in the evening playing Diablo. Playing on a backup MWEB account in the evening. The only response I get from Afrihost is send traceroutes and then nothing more
