Afrihost Fibre Feedback

Many Thanks! Progress! Appreciated. :)

Now three items remaining to match Capped Fibre with Capped ADSL:

Caped Fibre still needs:

*after-hours data
*capped data roll-over
*functionality to view usage, top-up or change package from mobile app

Our Team is working hard to get those features rolled-out!

@ Afri{Anyone}

I'm 'apparently' on a 10/5mpbs line, but I have been able to get 8mbps precisely ONCE! My upload seems to be ok at 4-5mbps, but my download sticks to MAX 3.8-3.9, sometimes way worse.

I have a support ticket -[ HDG-663-26134 ]- (as well as a PM to AfriFella) which has seen no activity/responses since logging it almost a day ago...

The service in the last week really has been far from ideal.

Every time I try to start a live chat on the website, I get the following message:

Can you please restart your WiFi router and test your connection again.

Please I need assistance. I can connect but dont have internet. The orange light on fibre box gone since this morning. I logged a call but still waiting for someone to contact me...can i send u a pm?

I can see that our Warehouse is coordinating the return with the courier company. They should make contact with you shortly.
25 days now and still waiting
If it takes this long just to collect the faulty router, how long am I looking at to receive a replacement, 6 months? A year?

Just informing Afrihost and it's clients.. After waiting 10 weeks on my fibre installation order Afrihost sent an mail to confirm that I do not have fibre in the area. Went to Telkom to get adsl instead, but they let me know I do have fibre in my area. After which an order was placed and today, not even 5 working days after they are doing the installation.

Would never recommend Afrihost to anyone, not even my worst enemy. Absolutely terrible management and service.

Sure! Drop me a PM and I'll check what's going on! :)

Thanks AfriGenie, seems to be a lot better now! Was for most of the weekend as well....thought it was just shaping.

It looks like there was a configuration issue. :) Nothing major, but pretty difficult to spot if you aren't familiar with the issue.

:(

It will be a lot quicker to dispatch the replacement.

Oh wow. :(

That's hectic to hear.

Did you receive any feedback from our Team as to why there were delays?

Seems they are also unable to deliver routers within the agreed time frame when signing the contract. My dad signed up for service and was told 1 - 3 days, it's now a week later and still nothing. Also no feedback from their support channels.

I am still waiting for FTTH at my house. I have a pending order with Afrihost and Vanilla ISP. They are both telling me that FTTH is not active in my area. We have had to switch off our electric fencing twice to have our neighbors connected to FTTH. The distribution point located on my neighbours property is basically 2 meters from my house. We are BY FAR the closest house to the distribution point. WTF can I do about this?? Afrihost have dropped off their 'free' modem but have not given me any ETA for install.

I have 20 Mbps fibre through SADV & Afrihost (Looong wait for SADV, zero feedback for 3 months). 100GB capped (which really means that I ought not to get throttled).

During the day, I cannot get over 10Mbps down.
Right now (02H33), I only get 17Mbps down.
Where is my missing bandwidth, Afrihost?

Considering a 40 mbps line with a 200gb cap on Openserve, any good/bad experiences.

Also anyone know the rough installation time for a new connection?

Openserve are generally pretty good, but it also depends on the circumstances. If you live in a complex, for example, there are sometimes delays getting body corporate permission, and with houses it can also be the local council or municipality.

We push for the best possible installation time, but we also try to give realistic installation timeframes based on our experience with the providers.

It definitely sounds like something is now working the way it should. Fibre capped is not shaped or throttled, so we need to troubleshoot this with you.

Can you please drop me a PM? :(

It sounds like we might already be dealing with this from another social platform - the pic looks familiar ;)

As I recall, our Fibre Ops manager is personally dealing with this :)

That's definitely not how things should go. One thing to note is that the delivery timeframe is from the time payment clears. If your dad paid by debit order, then the debit order can take up to five working days to clear.

Drop me a PM and I'll check what is happening here. Generally, our ware house is on the ball in this respect, so this is unusual :(

I'm making noise everywhere, since I've been told for months by several ISPs there is no FTTH :) I am making progress it seems..
