OpenServe Clients in Cape Town
We have been informed that OpenServe DSL and Fibre clients in Cape Town will be experiencing slow speeds due to an infrastructure failure. Technicians are on site to repair the break. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Nevermind, I guess...

A friend just asked me if mine is down because his is down but mine isnt, we both on Vuma with AH and about 9KM apart from each other.

Whoever does the callback requests at afrihost either doesn't know what they are talking about, or hasn't been trained correctly.

I got informed that I signed a promotional 18 month contract with afrihost when I took out fibre. And am now being billed a full cancellation fee. I took out fibre in October 2017, have been unsuccessful in trying to migrate my account and as such have ended up cancelling, which they still haven't been able to do successfully.

No where on any of their sites does it mention anything about 18 months, only 6 months.

Anyone have any advice here? Should I start preparing my attornies? Or go to the ombudsman for a resolution.

I confirmed it with someone else at afrihost. It's 6 months only, no idea where 18 months came from

It's called taking a chance to make more money, if they moan, revert to plan B, the terms.

Oh the best is when you ask for an update. And you get the generic, "we will advise when we are free". And when you mention that you want to have the issue escalated to ombudsman, they give you a thumbs up. Wow, seriously. Been with afrihost 7 years. I had a crap tonne of packages with them. I just cancelled all of them. #coolideas

I'm so sorry about that. it is horrible to hear that you have cancelled your services with us. Your cancellation should only be 6 months. Please send me a PM with your account information and I'll sort this out.

I am moving to a new place at the end of this month. I am dreading the ordeal I might face trying to move my Afrihost account to the new Fibre ONT...
I've started praying to the Fibre gods already.

It shouldn't be that bad. Who is your new provider?

I think it is still Openserve. Doesn't look like any other providers are in that area.

What is the best way to move my line over?

The best thing to do is to sign up a new order. There aren't any migration policies at this time.

It really shouldn't be a hassle.

OK so I can cancel today for the end of this month, and then beginning of next month I can sign up. I should be live within about 24h of signing up correct? There is already an ONT installed at the new premises.

I won't be up and live in 24 hours. If you have access to the place before you move it. I suggest that you order the fibre at least a week before you move in.

Hi all,

When looking at some of the competition out there, it seems that Afrihost is on the more expensive side. Does AH ever think of reviewing their prices down in order to keep up? (There was a great article on MYBB detailing Home-Connect packages - 100/100 a lot cheaper) - Just wondering...

We are always looking to be as competitive as possible when it comes to price. Since we have our own network and we do provide a network for a really large pool of clients our prices set like that to ensure we always provide the best service for everybody all the time. If we could drop the prices I can assure you we would.

I have had endless trouble since I've taken my fibre out in February. Constant outages, degraded speeds (0.1mbps type speeds) and numerous WhatsApp chats where faults are not logged.

Asking for refunds fall on deaf ears, asking for managers is a waste of time, everytime I call in I'm asked to switch to cable because wifi is bad (wifi isn't bad and your techs need to stop pushing this agenda, also the tests after tests after tests I always have to waste my time doing are all on cable or directly on the ONT, never a wifi in sight. But hey, it's my wifi that's apparently the problem. )

I know where the issue lies. It lies with the dhcp service and the pool of IPs I'm assigned to. Every single time I have issues I'm either not receiving a dynamic IP or the 102.182.x.x IP on afrihost side is timing out or has massive latency spikes.

I am tired of this fighting with afrihost every week over the same issue and the line is down at the most inconvenient times.
