Afrihost Fibre Feedback

Hey Everyone,

Just a quick shout out to @AfriGuy, @AfriMan and @AfriFella for all their help with such a smooth transition of both my own Fibre and new install at my folks' house. Both are running beautifully without any issues at all.

Really hope the rest of you manage to migrate over as their network is really performing well and while some of the support guys via WhatsApp aren't always the absolute best, the team on MyBB are really fantastic and I really commend them for the awesome service and patience!

mine was sitting in limbo, no response through clientzone from 7:30 until i tried whatapp feature at midday, then was up and running pretty quick, got a reply from support this afternoon, told them to bugger off.

Thanks. Will definitely start looking around. For now managed to run a CAT6 cable between router and "study", connecting to GB switch. As the Dlink is a GB router, now have GB throughput to the PC's.
The phone and tablets can have the wifi hehe
For something a little bit cheaper you can also try EoP the quality and speed of these units are pretty good nowadays and best of all they're usually plug and play.

Yeah China Telecom route that goes over SAFE no doubt.

You downgraded speed though :(
yeah, not a gamer so don't download so it's not affecting me that much, still kodi the same, and irony would have it that the guy that was teaching to the chinese moved out on the 31st, although I might have to upgrade to 20mb to get iptv running smooth for the pops if he decides to cancel dstv, although i don't see that happening as he records everything he watches and all of it is sport.

Happy to hear that you are having fair speeds currently.
@wingnut771, if you do consider upgrading your services to something a little faster, please let us know, and we will see what we can do for you

look what happens to the ping when doing a speedtest, edgerouterX without qos:
hop 3 goes bonkers:

That's weird - is that QoS on the router itself? Wonder what it's actually removing from the traffic policy.
i said the qos was off, i'm forced to use qos to have a reasonably stable ping:
this is qos on, 3 guesses where the speedtest was:

Hi,I switched over from a 10mb premium account for 867 a month onto a 20mb pure fiber account for 797.... you debited my account 797 and now I got an email with a credit note for 797?

Best to login to client zone and get an account history pdf to see what is going on. If you were billed incorrectly they usually credit you Afrihost account which will be used for the next payment or you can contact accounts and ask for a refund.

Thanks,I do think I got billed correctly...797 is correct.... just don't understand why I got a credit note via email...I can't see any wrong billing via client zone.... will contact them tomorrow

Sometimes we have to do a few reversals depending on the product change - especially close to billing run.

Drop me a PM and let me take a look for you :)

ok, so 10mb is not working for me, 700ms latency if you do anything on the line, so i've upgraded to 20mb in clientzone. seeing that i'm only on day 6, i was not expecting a prorata fee to come off as apparently the first 3 months are free, and yet, i've got a sms from my bank for R288.71!

Oh no wingnut771, not sure what that's about. Can you PM me your account number and I will look into this and advise accordingly.

Do you know if AH blocks RDP ports (3389) by default?

I cant seem to connect to my home PC via RDP. Teamviewer works but ill need a licence for long sessions.

Also opened the ports up on my firewall, using RPD when im on the local network works.
