Afrihost Fibre Feedback

I have to agree..capped is my first choice as I know what I'm getting without being shaped and throttled...I seriously hope they don't take it away as uncapped is not for everyone and why should I be shaped and throttled because my neighbour wants to download the internet.

We'd also like to have an Uncapped product that has the same features - Uncapped and Unshaped - for fibre.

We're definitely not pulling Capped for fibre - didn't mean to give that impression.

We're just thinking of how we can make things simpler :)

UPDATE: To my knowledge After Hours Data is working on Fibre. Capped rollover should also be working. We're working on the usage issue at the moment - so that should be sorted soon :)

Hi AfriMan,
Afterhours appears to be working, however tricky to assess whether it's 100% given that the logs aren't working. Rollover isn't. Nothing rolled over for me this month.

Thanks for the heads up..I better start using my cap..would hate to lose it thinking it will carry over:)..as they say Rome wasn't built in a day..I'm sure the developers are working on it:)

My AfriHost DSL data used to carry over.

Hi AfriFella, hopefully you can help me out.

Openserve/Nokia have been trenching/running fibre into our block of flats. (Loevenstein, Bellville).
I emailed the Nokia lady middle July asking how the roll out is going, she says they are done, and that I may contact an ISP to order fibre.

SO end of July I sign up with Afrihost, website says there's no coverage but I select "I'm sure there is fibre in my area". A week or so later I email for progress, and get a reply that Openserve are not done with their infrastructure work yet? I didn't respond to that mail, but then on the 18th another email comes through stating that Openserve had accepted the installation order on the 12th already, and that I should follow up if I have not been phoned to arrange an installation date.

Since then, I have emailed twice with no reply. Trying the online chat is useless because conveniently the agents are always busy. I have not phoned in because I cant do that at work.

My free wireless router has also been delivered a few weeks back already....

I also live in Loevenstein and I also sit with a free router and have had an email saying that they placed the order with Openserve with regards to installation. This was done 2 months ago. They then requested feedback from Openserve but have heard nothing as of yet. It doesnt look like Openserve is done with the roll out.
Our boundary boxes has been put up months ago in our complex and I cant see what the hold up is... Perhaps Nokia is long gone done and Openserve needs to do the final testing but I havent seen one of their bakkies yet. Only DFA vans here and there doing testing.

Frustrating to say the least as I moved to Loevenstein in April and they reached out to our bodycorp in April and said it will take no longer than 3 months. Its now 6 months later.

Living of mobile data is not the most economical option.

TIA at its best.

Could you PM me your username quickly, the links are valid for a 2-month period so I need to check what happened!

The router worked for a week and then died. I was told to request a return on ClientZone, which I did on 2 August.
I have followed up about 10 times since then to ask when it would be collected.
So we're renting a loan router while this one gets replaced. I'm sure Afrihost will pay for our rental costs.
At this rate it will be collected next year, then it will then take 3 months to test & confirm its faulty, and then another 6 months to receive a replacement.

I'll ask AfriFella to take a look at his PM's for you.

You can take your router to us by all means or you can arrange a collection by requesting this in your ClientZone.

Are you kidding me?

Sorry about the crossed line. Can you drop me a PM so I can follow up for you?

And we're onto day 47 of waiting for the Afrihost courier, not sure which company it is but the couriers I use collect on the same day

Btw, my EXACT experience...no jokes.

Got mine installed last week and still waiting for my Fibre to be 'activated'. I'm using my ADSL account details, at least that is working...bad routing past couple of days though.

The service I've received the past couple of months is really bad and I regret going with Afrihost.

22 days since my application for Fibre.
Order: AHB597871A4715
Support ID: CLG-653-31669
Still waiting......

No issues on the speed, just the latency.

speedtest.mybroadband.co.za:

Ping: 63ms
Download: 10.06Mbps
Upload: 4.37Mbps

Even the latency on the speedtest is pretty high...

Could you PM me your details quickly please.
