Apologies, I did get it.![]()
Vumatel is rolling out Fibre in my area and it's time to start thinking ISP. With ADSL it was easy, because you could easily switch, but it seems with Fibre the connection fee you have to pay every time makes you think a bit harder.
I'm currently an Afrihost ADSL client, but would like to get the fibre perspective. I've had some rocky times with Afrihost, especially the evening slowdown.
Now down to the question. Can body share their perspective on the quality of the Afrihost fibre experience. I find their pricing to be quite a bit more than some other providers, especially on capped accounts. Would like to understand if the service is worth it.
Also from what I can gather they don't offer after hours like some other providers.
Any feedback or advice appreciated. You can PM me if you don't want to name names here![]()
Could you PM me your username quickly, the links are valid for a 2-month period so I need to check what happened!
Could you PM me your details, I'll follow-up on that for you!

Can somebody please explain this?
Rather annoyed...
Still waiting for activation of my fibre account. Got a reply on my ticket after 6 days of nothing and still not working. It's pretty funny since it was installed 2 weeks ago and I've logged calls, phoned the service department twice and PMed you. Doesn't look like you have anything under control there.
I have to beg for service, it is amazing.
God I miss Telkom.
Hi Afripeeps
Spoken too 2 different people now in your fibre support department. Ordered fibre a month back and have not hear anything as yet and the support people promise to get back to me and I hear nothing. Moving to new house on Sunday and need this to be resolved ASAP.
Order details are as follows
Your Afrihost Order Number is AH7AE7999965E0
Heya Vixation. Thanks for reaching out. I think I'm gonna need a little more info to be able to assist you with this. Please drop me a PM and I'll help you out immediately.
That really doesn't sound cool! Please feel free to forward me your info so I can look into what's going on.
I have Openserve and AH seems to have some good offers. Some questions:
All packages are month to month. Just make sure that you cancel or edit your package before our billing run, which usually starts on the 23rd.1. Please confirm that the packages are month to month with no installation or set-up costs
Capped fibre isn't shaped or throttled.2. For capped accounts is there any shaping or throttling?
There is no threshold for shaping. All shaping is based on network demand which is currently very low for fibre.3. For uncapped accounts is the threshold for the start of shaping and throttling the same?
Yes. Capped data links roll over into the next month.4. Is there carry-over on the capped account?
Sounds like you're referring to Free-Time. This is available on all capped fibre packages.5. Is there 'nightsurfer' on the capped or uncapped account?
Hey, not sure if it was you that helped me or AfriGenie or someone that finally looked at my ticket and was able to solve my issue, thank you for helping me, appreciate it.
Btw your accounts department is pretty damn amazing, answered my call within 1 minute and solved my issue almost immediately. I was expecting the usual 30 minute call wait and 0 feedback that I've been getting from the support department past few months.
Credit where credit due.
Hiya all,
I'm on 200GB capped package on a 20mbps line. Performance is, knock wood, perfect. My usage is likely to jump to 300GB if I cut the cord on DSTV. Wondering how the performance would be on Home Uncapped - which is at exactly the same price as the 200GB capped.
Would like to get some perspective from Home Uncapped users. How is throughput? Is the service stable? Do you notice any slowdown? How much over threshold do you typically go?
Thanks!
SD.
All packages are month to month. Just make sure that you cancel or edit your package before our billing run, which usually starts on the 23rd.There are setup costs involved with most providers, but we're running an "up to R4000" credit promotion to cover these costs.
