Do you see this reflect on a speedtest before you decide to reboot? Do you see high latency at all during this time?
How are things testing for you today?
Hi, Speedtest shows around 4 - 8MB download. Then reboot, back to 20MB.
However, i may have found "part" of the problem and am testing.
I have a Wi-Fi extender which i set up to use the SSID as the main router (D-Link). What i have found though is that some of my devices have up to four IPs listed under the DHCP client listing. So when i reboot the router, it removes those leases and Internet is back to normal. Moving between "routers" it appears another IP is assigned.
So i have set DHCP lease time to 1440 minutes (instead of default 10000+), set up DHCP reservations for all my devices and changes the extender to have it's own SSID.
So far, far less issues than before (three days later)
So i continue testing...
Today seems fine. Unfortunately intermittent issues are intermittent.
Hi Heinie777. Exciting news about your fibre!I'm sorry to hear about your router delay. We have recently experienced a stock shortage which caused a bit of a backlog. I know we have started sending out routers again, so yours will definitely be on its way!
Feel free to drop me a PM and I'll prioritize it with the team.
That's the nature of it, I suppose.Keep us posted with feedback.
And I finally get through to afrihost. Chat for a few seconds. She says she is communicating with somebody and lo and behold... Either she put down or the system killed the call. Either way - I don't have internet.
Honest question - considering I had to spend 50 minutes on the phone with afrihost - at what point can I begin to claim back airtime?
Hi Mike
That's really horrible! We're definitely concerned when we hear our clients are on hold for so long. It's something we constantly monitor and try to improve on. Just remember that you can also SMS "Help" to 32541 and we'll call you back.
Drop me a PM and I'll make sure you get some assistance with your connection.
Just curious, have you ever thought about implementing a VoIP option e.g. integrate Skype or directly via the browser?
Like VoiP support? We've talked about doing Messenger and Whatsapp chat, but we got the sense the generally client are not that into it![]()
Wow, it sounds like you;re really narrowing down the problem. If there is anything I can do for you or assist you with, please feel free to drop me a PM. Glad to hear things are improving.
This is related to the inability of showing rollover data for capped users, similar to what we had/have on ADSL, and that you have to PM them in order to add it to your monthly capJust playing catch up here... so there are major issues with the capped product offerings? One cannot easily change line speeds?
Uncapped is unaffected?

You really want to add more work for their devs ??To try and avoid airtime costs. It's a lot cheaper to get a data bundle and call via that or use friends/work WiFi/or even Afrihost's connection in case it's a billing query.
E.g. check out dev.skype.com
