Afrihost Fibre Feedback

There is definitely something weird going on in Roodepoort. We've been talking to Vuma via our NOC team to try and get this resolved. It looks like we're still working on it, though some clients are reporting that they're back up.

We've got a notice on our website - we'll post any updates there :( https://www.afrihost.com/site/network_status

Hi, Any updates as the Website is still showing the old message (and yes we are still down)

Also, the Network status this issue is Low Impact? Would have thought an entire area being affected might warrant a little more...

We are still working with them, their senior technical director is involved as well as our top technical people to get it resolved quickly.

The impact is low based on the total impact to our broadband network, but I totally understand for those affected the urgency is very high :(

Happiness! Feel I need to say how happy I am. Ordered fibre. Next day technician phoned to install. We only moved in today, he came, installed, hour later I’m rocking 100mbps

It's been almost 2 weeks and I cannot get any feedback from your support team..

If I’m on premium 200/100, should I be getting better downloads?

So, fibre was finally installed today but no internet access yet. The Vumatel tech says I must call my ISP. Been waiting for a call back from support since 2:30 pm. Tried the WhatsApp support but they couldn't help and was told they would arrange a callback.

Not sure if this will help:
I also had installation done by Vumatel. The ONT box they installed will have LEDs. One is power, one is the link. If it is flashing then the line is not activated. I was told to wait until the light is solid which means an object number has been created. Then you can connect the LAN cable to your router and connect. When i connected the first time, i was directed to enter my clientzone login - Internet up and running.

btw - My activation took about two days once the line had been installed

Thanks. The light is solid but I don't get redirected to the clientzone login. Afrihost support did eventually call me back at 10pm last night and according to them it should be activated by today. Will check when I get home later.

Good luck!
Silly question: The router is setup for a DHCP assigned address on the Internet setup?

Did you connect a different device to the fiber first? I think Vumatel is a layer 2 operator, they lock the MAC address of the device to the line, you need to call Afrihost/Vumatel to release the MAC address so that you can use the router instead.
