Afrihost Mobile Delivery Feedback Thread

Very dissatisfied with Afrihost so far. When I got in Twitter DM back and forth with them, they claimed that my pre-order is technically not a pre-order - say what? Dispatched from Afrihost in the same 15:55 batch that many others are still waiting on, and yet the dude won't just admit it and is trying to somehow convince me mines not a pre order?

Phoned MDS, they say many will only be delivered next week, yet Afrihost is not owning up to this.

This is the worst of the worst when it comes to customer service: not admitting when you've made a mistake and making up lame excuses, hoping "maybe they won't notice". Total lack of ownership.

My mifi is heading very quickly towards Gumtree (if and when I receive it) and I'll write the R145 off as school fees to avoid Afrihost, will advise people I chat to to steer well clear...

Exept if you want to upgrade to the 10Gb special in which case they pro rata the data to penalise you for upgrading for part of the month but still charge you for the full month.

They do charge you pro-rata if you upgrade your current package:
I understand that this change will be effective immediately and I will be charged R45.07 pro-rata
You will receive 4.33 GB additional data (887.47 MB Normal + 3.47 GB Double Data)

Of course you can only upgrade when you activate the Sim, which only happens when it gets delivered

This seems to have changed as the upgrade functionality have appeared on my clientzone interface even though I'm still sitting at Pending Dispatch 03-09-2013 09:52:36
 
Thanks for the update - glad they're admitting that part of the delivery failure. However, still pretty hacked about the Twitter customer service rep trying to pass off "technically you're not part of the pre-orders" routine...
 
I phoned collivery on Monday so that I can change my delivery date to next week. They said I must email so I did but got no reply. I phoned again yesterday and another guy told me no problem it will be delivered next week only. Now I track my parcel and it tells me "driver has been dispatched"??? Wtf??? If they deliver tom I'm not here... Eish
 
I see you can now upgrade but it only applies from the 1st of October...
I wanted to do it for Sept.

I am 100% sure that was your plan from the start. Geez you do get un-thankful brats in life who complains because the delivery of a free device is delayed. Anyway if you can get cheaper mobile data that is great for you, we will enjoy the bandwidth in the mean time. Your loss as you spite yourself.
 
Seriously, Seriously? So because a device is free, you don't have to stick to your commitment as a company? And you can use dishonest claims to backtrack? Maybe they should feel relaxed about your data reliability seeing its so cheap as well? Its an attitude like that that keeps service delivery below par in this country.
 
Also had an awful experience so far .
Got an SMS saying it would be delivered on Tuesday , nothing arrived on Tuesday or Wednesday .Phoned the call centre yesterday and was promised it would be delivery yesterday , had not arrived by midday , phoned the call centre again and was told it would be delivered at 4PM. Again nothing arrived .
I understand there are many thousand deliveries taking place , but you have now wasted 3 of my days being available for receive the package .
Not the best start for my Afrihost relationship
 
Well, I am still waiting...up side, got my Afrihost APN on my MTN sorted, so at least enjoying the benefits...MAJOR one being, not having to fork out cash to MTN...but must agree, the courier let Afrihost down...For one, claiming to have tried to deliver, and no one was there/ could not find the address/building -- No follow up from their side....and the tracking? why bother? Anyway, still waiting for my mifi....today is the 6th, and still waiting.
 
Really feel for all your guys without your devices. Been through all the hassles with Collivery, probably the worst courier company i have dealt with.

Cant really blame Afrihost, apart from them selecting Collivery as their partner on this.

Hang in there, hope you get your devices soon.

I ordered the 10GB sim as well and got allocated the pro rate 9.3GB which is good and well, but what worries me is when am I going to get it. :(

I've already waited 17 days for my MiFi + 5GB to be delivered, which I will attempt to collect from their Cape Town depot this afternoon.

Two of my colleagues, who ordered after I did, got their goodies a LONG time ago. I have to date received ZERO communication from MDS. This experience has told me to never use MDS for anything :D

I'm not gonna throw my toys out of the cot though, I still enjoy Afrihost ;) I am however internetless at home now for more than a week.
