@AfriMan Does AH do an uncapped Fixed LTE sim only package like Rain?
Have you tried gaming ? I read in earlier posts that someone was struggling.

Not for many years....in a past life yes.

Days (1995) of network Doom and turn based strategy games like Command and Conquer, Age of Empires, Sim City, etc (early 2000s)

I should probably test my MTN fixed lte from afrihost. They sent me the 100GB sim and b618 router :)

OK, so I have SIM in the router but it only connects to 3G. Signal is good, adding the external antennas from the old B315 does not seem to affect it - are those for wifi only?

I called the support line and they say it will auto provision for 4G I must just leave it on. Can anyone tell me how long this normally takes?

Yeah Afrihost has been really good to me. :)

Not had a problem with them myself...or Axxess.
Used (Rain, Cell C, Telkom, MTN for Home and Vodacom for my mob calls

Only 2 I have needed over last 2 years since returning to SA, so yes, no real complaints.

Try forcing 4G only mode.

Try forcing 4G only mode.

And you could also try disabling roaming (mine won't work unless I do ). YMMV.
Connect:
Mobile data
When the mobile network is turned on, the device connects to the network automatically.
Data roaming:EnableDisable
Auto-select network:EnableDisable
This feature will be disabled when the profile configuration is changed.

I tried - no luck forcing 4G as it won't go on 4G.

There is 4G coverage here, on the old B315 I am running MTN mobile 4G.

Yep - roaming is off, forcing 4G results in no connection.

I had same issue and fought with support who kept telling me I was activated....
I could connect to 3G using preloaded MyMTN profile, but when I tried ws.afrihost.fwa APN never connected to 4G.

Until I did the above....!

Try rebooting the router as a last go for now.

It is currently on the MyMTN profile - not sure if that is right? The account if from Axxess.

I called again now and they said the SIM has not yet been provisioned (for 4G I assume) by MTN so I must wait until they send an SMS saying it is provisioned. I'll try a reboot now.

What does the external antennas do and why don't the B525 come with them?

Not sure for Axxess, this is AH thread for MTN fixed LTE but there is another specific thread for that...

You will need the proper APN param to get it to work, I used ws.afrihost.fwa

You dont need external antenna - even with the b315 the internal almost always worked better than the bunny ones

You need to create a new profile/apn.

Using mymtn profile would not work as far as I know. Also it won't work on 3G.
