Afrihost negative feedback thread

Okay after almost 3 days of streaming the way it should be - Southern Cape - at 19:23 tonight it's back to o so slow. Pop into Telkom and 100%.

The reason for this: While I waited for AH to "fix" their issues, I got some data from another company.
Did some traceroute: Now my question. Way back a CEO of one of the ISP's said:

"Problems at the second hop would indicate exchange congestion – it should always be sub 20ms for it not to be service-affecting.
If the third or fourth hop is greater than 80ms it is more likely that the ISP is throttling the account in some way."

Definitely happening here certain times of the day. Telkom fine - other ISP no. Any comments.

I know a contention ratio (different interpretation is possible) of 1:1 is surely not attainable, but it is time that ISP's give us the ratio especially with specials. A person can then make a more informed decision. A capped account compared to an uncapped account should also be interesting.

This guy is trying to tell u that's it not cool berating people. Even via forums, as u may not see it as insulting or hurtful, but it may have been perceived to be so by the reps.

He's also saying that he can understand ur frustration though, he knows ure angry.

Good guy this :).

And I understand that, but see it from everyone else's perspective. He is not a forum mod and he is not an AfriHost rep. People are naturally not going to react well when he (continuously) wants to police the threads. He's clearly very enthusiastic about AH so naturally I expect him to be defensive of them, but policing their threads is not his job. This, imo, is where things turned really sour. When he and a select few others started trying to police the thread and making passive-aggressive accusations people got angry because in all honesty, it's really none of their business. If anyone thinks a forum member's behavior is not acceptable then that is what the RBP feature is there for. RPB it and leave it for the mods to sort out. Further than that it has nothing to do with you.

Nobody likes a backseat moderator and I maintain that this behavior aggravated the situation even further. Before it things were a little heated but still well under control. Forum (mis)behavior is a matter between the person doing it, the person on the receiving end and the site administration. Nobody else.

That's a very respectable opinion to have.
We need more forumites like you.

The problem is that this is like the 10th time this sort of thing has happened at Afrihost and the reps always act clueless until the apologies from Gian come out.

ITT: Crystal Web fanbois

How about them R2/GB. Stay mad.

You've never struck me as a problem on this forum before, but this Crystal Web ranting seems like it's going to end in you being banned. All it does is create conflict everywhere you go. God know's what flipped the switch in your brain, but crapping on CW and their users seems to be all you do these days.

The weird part is that is doesn't even make sense. At a time when every non-CW feedback thread is filled with complaints, you criticise the pricing of Crystal Web's new accounts. Most people would assume that perhaps there's a link between CW not having bargain basement pricing and a stellar network. But it gets weirder - CW's pricing is totally in line with Axxess, Mweb, RSAWeb and Vox. In fact, 500GB is cheaper on CW than any of them now. And CW gives a premium news server, uncapped data from midnight to 6pm and instantaneous live chat support. CW is destroying them on price, performance and service right now. I scanned over the CW home capped accounts and didn't spot any package at or above R2/GB.

CW has loads of customers for a new ISP, and the only recent complaints about the network relate to a Vumatel fibre DDoS attack. And their value for money is exceptional since the product refreshes. Users who love a product or service have always recommended them to other users who are in the market for the same type of product or service. In the case of internet access, it seems obvious why very happy CW customers would recommend CW to unhappy customers of other ISPs. We don't only warn fellow forumites of shoddy service (like Openweb and WA), but also turn them to great ones.

I can think of no reason for why you behave the way you do, other than perhaps you having a vested interest in a non-CW ISP. Could you elaborate on your position regarding CW? I'm genuinely curious.

Crystal Web is awesome... Have their test account as a small back up :)

After using the special of R1 for the past 2 weeks, I did not see any increase in performance over my current VOX Fatpipe on international streaming. Both are sub par.

Cancelled...

I have some AH data left for use during October when it expires.
It is available (username and password). PM me if you are interested.
Go well.

Are you having issues again? Thought things were running well for you

I see the Afri reps have slinked back in. Does that mean the streaming issues are now sorted?

Should probably check how that account is performing now. Haven't bothered with it in almost a week.

It's been streaming fine for me for a while now. I do find Youtube is better in Chrome with the Magic Actions for Youtube extension installed though.

Seems very sluggish at the moment. takes so long to open sites they time out

International, because mybb and pw works but Facebook worked as well however the rest timed out YouTube etc

Seems better now
