Something weird happened yesterday afternoon. I was downloading Battlefield 4 so I can warm up for BF1 coming in October, and I downloaded the game over night on Tuesday. When I got home yesterday I started with the DLC's. At one stage I was downloading at 1.8Mbps... :O It wasn't long, but it went between 350kbps (my average) to 1.8mbps, hovering around 500-600kbps.

Is my exchange now sorted?

Its hard to say re the exchange. You would have to give it time, and then see if there is consistency. But thats at least a positive sign

Morning guys

Everyone called in sick today, so I'm a bit behind in replying to messages :(

I see a few people still reporting issues from the South. Please bear in mind that in order to manage the network when we have an issue, we put emergency protocols in place to essentially put the brakes on traffic so that we can try to deliver some quality of service while we fix whatever is broken. Those protocols are then slowly lifted and monitored so the network doesn't fall over.

If anyone who was affected yesterday is still seeing the same issues, let me know and we'll investigate.

I'll reply to as many posts as I can ASAP.

Morning A Man. Think of it like this, more coffee for you, more food for you, nice quiet time in the office, more time to talk to us :D Its your lucky day ;)

Wow this thred has been progressing fast over the last 2 weeks or so with a lot of people experiencing issues and complaining. So I have to wonder, are more people suddenly experiencing issues, are we seeing a wheel or 2 coming off?
Iether way, to outsiders coming here to check out Afrihost considering signing up it must paint a bad picture.

Every night the network hits a wobbly.

have a look at the Vox thread... see if its any better there

Dammit they need to fix this and make sure it never ever happens again else imapoopmapants.

I was hitting normal speed when doing speed tests but the pages wouldnt load.

Totally broken in Stellenbosch. Afrihost is 100%

No throughput except speedtest.net... FatPie account 20mb VDSL

ditto, buggered.

sorry to quote those, but im yet to find any ISP that has been working 100% every day for every month of the year. CW maybe, but they also have issues from time to time. Not trying to defend Afrihost, but i do notice that the other ISP's all seem to be having issues, which is very strange.

That sounds positive! Hopefully your connection will stay at those speeds!

Agreed

dammit, my line just went down for like 15 mins. But have no fear, Integrated data sim saved me there :D But im back up again now

Yay for integrated back-ups! :D

speaking of, when will we be seeing something similar from Afrihost:whistle: (preferably on Vodacom, EmtyN has absolutely crappy service even with full bars the Data portion suffers badly and don't even get me started on the dropped calls problem /rant)

i would also like to see Afrihost do something similar. would be great to have an Afrihost integrated data sim. Then i can move my line from Telkom :)

I missed some of the conversation here, are you referring to 3G failover type stuff? Or having Afrihost APN data working on networks outside of MTN?
