So much packet loss at that hop.

Notice that bras.afrihost.com does not go above 37ms (once) else stable 21.

And still constant 10%.

Absolutely lovely.

How are those results translating into your gaming performance? What sort of latency are you seeing in-game?

How is your actual experience? Are you seeing packet loss on a streaming or VOIP service? Any issues with online games?

Look at the first screen shot. 200 ping, then 1.2k, then 800, then 200 for a sec after people teleport, back to 1k, repeat.

@Afriman

Can you please explain how my account was changed to a shaped capped account? I dont remember even asking or agreeing to it? I thought it would remain unshaped unless I specifically asked for it to be changed. Now I have went into my clientzone and changed it to unshaped but I have to wait till 01/02/2017 for it to take effect. *not happy*

Doesn't make a difference, I'm on the unshaped one and still have issues.

In most cases your account would have stayed on the Double Data option, on the mail explaining the changes you would have had the option to change to the Unshaped Capped account.

I'm not sure how you get to that assumption based on those test results. Where is the server located that you ran the test to?

My Shaped Capped is performing just as good as the unshaped one. No complaints so far. Netflix streaming well during peak hours. Just one question afriman, does afrihost plus allow data rollover? And for how long?

EDIT:
I am the only person on my line, 20-21ms ping to bras.afrihost.com during these speedtests with the exception of the upload portion due to the nature of ADSL.
This is within Cape Town to Vox server.

CellC, ping improvement, still high for local though.

Hi Afrihost people,

I am in Pretoria and am on a capped (now shaped) account (2Mbps). As of yesterday, 2 January, i was experiencing terrible latency, upto 1300 s when i ran a speed test. I complained on twitter, but no one was available, i only got a response this morning. The complaints being result on this forum are similar to what i was getting. SO i moved to my back up account with webafrica and i am not experiencing such problems. Please do let me know when you have figured out what the hell is going on then i can come back. I have been a loyal member for quite some time, and i wouldnt want to take drastic measures due to this latest shaping thats being implemented.

Regards,

Me
