Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

Came home. Internet wasn’t working. Reset my router and up pops an Afrihost prompt and bang. I’m back online.

Must say, as far as activations go, this was really really painless.

Well done Afrihost. Now I hope I get to enjoy 3 free months?

So glad everything worked out so seamlessly.

Enjoy :)

Did you chat to anyone specific. Vuma seems to be ignoring my support requests.
I’ve confirmed with Vox that they have released my line. @AfriMan seems to think Vuma needs to move my line over from PPPoE to DynamicIP but it seems like they really slow in doing this or Afrihost hasn’t communicated properly to them. 3 days and counting and still nothing.

Vuma wouldn't need to do that - if I'm not mistaken. We sort all of that out for you. The change would be on your router if you were using PPPoE, to allow DHCP.

Our guys can guide you through that - hopefully they set up a follow up call when you spoke to them earlier. Once the line is with us, then we'll sort everything out for you.

I want to upgrade for my free months, will I be charged anything with this Pro-rata debate?

Is there anyone with PureFiber in Cape Town that can comment on the speed/latencies? I've spoken to cavedog who seems happy in Gauteng, just want to see if everyone in Cape Town are having similar experiences.

The discount applies when you activate the product and recurring on the 1st of each month. If you migrate your package during the month it will generate a pro rata invoice which billing would then need to credit manually. I'm not sure how fast their billing is but I guess there could be a chance for your card to be billed before accounts manually made adjustments.

Thanks, will rather upgrade when @AfriMan is around as he can make things happen on the accounts side quite swiftly.

We can definitely credit the fee back to you. Depending on your payment method, it may be processed too quickly for me to suppress the billing.

Payment method is debit order, surely it can't be immediate?

Quite impressed with the performance on the 200/100 pure fibre package on openserve so far. The single thread speed is a lot better and more consistent than what i got on cisp on vumatel. Also, when i run an iperf test i now get 0% or much closer to 0% packetloss than i did on vumatel. With regards to latency, the EU routing still needs some work outside of london but luckily i have a VPN to bypass if needed.

Sounds good :)

Day 4 - line still not released. I'm just giving up.

Let me ask Gary to give you a call - I promise we're doing everything we can from our side.
I know you guys are - I'm actually looking towards CISP. Seems there is no urgency there, just empty promises. And i just like to moan on this thread ! ;-)

I get where you're coming from. Still, sucks to see one of our clients in distress :(

Well, at least my connection is still alive, but I'm not sure for how long still. Can you guys perhaps speak to your Openserve SDM and ask if there really is a backlog of release orders like CISP claims?

Finally got my line running, now all I need to be done is get my line onto a 20meg up and down and not 20down/2up.

This a migration typically this painful?

With that said, my account is credited with the cancellation fees charged by my old ISP, how and where would I see the free month allocation on my account?

Morning @AfriMan. I’ve just spoken to Vumatel, and your fibre ops guys haven’t even placed an order yet. 40 hours, and no order yet.

I need that VP number.

Please, this shouldn’t be the reason I’m without internet.

is anybody possibly experiencing throttling on NZB downloads(NewsDemon)
100mbps line only going at 30mpbps). this is on Purefiber Openserve.
Just want to know whether i need to report it to the nzb provider or Afrihost?
