Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

Cool.

I’ve just got a call from the fibre installers though. They want to install fibre at my house, even though I’ve had aerial for the last 2 years.

This means that I am *still* nowhere near to being connected, because my order is still for a new trenched line.

This is an absolute disaster of a migration.

This is definitely concerning and I know it's been a major concern all around.

Gary from Critical Care is dealing directly with this for you - I am sure he will get this sorted.

Nothing yet. I took the screenshot when my wife asked why the internet is so slow. I only uploaded when I got to the office.

I'll try to do some troubleshooting when I get home, but nothing on my home network has changed. However I did move the router yesterday a meter or so from where it originally was, so maybe the LAN cable between the ONT and router isn't properly connected. That's the only thing I can think of.

It could be interference if you are testing over WiFi. Not sure about the cable - generally it's either ON or OFF.

Let's see what happens when you get home.

@AfriMan
I've migrated over to an AH 200Mbs Purefibre package. My line has been in the holding pool from the 3rd September and AH have put a request through to Openserve to pull the line over so I can start getting access to the upgraded line speed. Its been more than 48 hours now and whenever I call the call center they keep saying its in progress and the latest I've been told is to call back and check again on Monday.

Please can you help because I don't think it should be taking this long for you guys to grab the line from the holding pool?? I've already inputted the credentials into the router and I'm using the AH data from the package I signed up for, just not getting the speeds I signed up for.

Got your PM - have replied there.

@AfriMan

I've been struggling with a billing issue all week, please help

Will definitely take a look. Can you please send me a PM with your account details?

Ja look, if they can keep this up - there is no need to go anywhere else.

@AfriMan - @AfriFella promised me a 200Mbps upgrade for the period of my free months, - can you please ask him to honour his promise ? I accepted it, but the line is not upgraded.

Thanks

Day 6 and I'm finally connected. I'll test and provide feedback later.
Thanks to @AfriMan and Gary for finally sorting it out.
Issue was with how Vumatel set up the line. It sounds like they struggling with the old Fibrehood systems.
For anyone else that has an issue like this, please make sure you get Afrihost and Vumatel speaking to each other over a phone and not just submitting tickets as that causes unnecessary delays due to their SLA terms.

Is there an affiliate program for Pure signups? :ROFL:

Just got 4 people moved over today alone :cool:

Glad to hear it :)

Just moved over about a week ago, also very happy so far, thanks for all the support @AfriMan .

One thing I did want to ask about though, my main game is iRacing, which while we unfortunatly do not have any local server's is still very playable on fibre at 160-170 ping (server's in Amsterdam), which is what we were getting with our old ISP.

To the same server's I now get 220-230ms, which while still playable is pushing it a little bit - I noticed a couple of pages back there was a conversation where you mentinoned you were looking at optimising routing, so I'm not panicing just yet :) & to other server's I get the normal 160-170ms, which is identical to our last isp if not a few ms better, so no issue's for most other game's :-

I don't know an aweful lot about this stuff but to me it looks like the issue might be in the 7th hop, when it goes through - te-3-0-11.lza-p4-jhb.liquidtelecom.net ; te-0-3-0-11.lza-p3-jhb.liquidtelecom.net or 46.17.232.91.

The Trace to the other server in Amsterdam goes through te-0-3-0-5.luk-p1-tho.liquidtelecom.net & be-5.luk-pe1-tcy.liquidtelecom.net which then give's me a ping of 169ms, all of them seem to be Amazon server's.

If it helps the test's were done from George in the Western Cape, which is something like 400km from Cape Town.

I'll try and see if I can get my hand's on a traceroute from a friend who is still with CISP for comparison.

But again overall very happy with the move, if this can be fixed I'll be extatic. ;)

@3HH

The issue with the routing is that its going via east coast to eu for some routes which is very inefficient for people in cape town, it should be going via WACS (west coast) just like it is for london. I was aware of this before signing up, but i just hope they can rectify it in a reasonable time frame. I use a VPN atm to overcome the routing, which is pretty much for any BR games.

Enjoy your weekend chaps.

Us poor guys who stumbled into a sh1tshow of a migration will be 3G’ing it some more, it seems.
