@AfriMan I have logged a ticket and for 3 days now there is no response. ticket number Ticket ID: WFK-263-96813. i have email speed test trace routes etc. to thamsanqa. there is major routing issue and latency issue to the USA on your network. How soon can this be resolved as my daughter is and family are now really frustrated with buffering. for more then 3 weeks now.

5PM hits and nothing more than messages from AH telling me to go to this magical activation page that apparently will work even if you don't have an IP address... clearly my computer doesnt have that feature.

Incompetence to the max.
Let's see how long this will take.

Great customer service guys, you should really be proud of your responsiveness, well done!

Really sorry that you're not getting a quick response. Our support channels are seeing some pretty unusual volumes (especially this time of year) and we're a little behind. The guys are doing their best to get to each query and callback as quickly as they possibly can.

You are most welcome to PM me and I will try and get you some assistance as quickly as I can :(

I'm having pretty bad connection, seems like latency possibly but also just time outs. On a traceroute I come across an IP 10.189.30.10 on the 6th hop, previous to that is a telkom-ipnet.co.za IP. Tried to find who the 10.189.30.10 belonged to buy says private ip.... what is going on here?

Doing a tracert to twitter.com the ip changes to 10.189.30.2 currently.

Get the following after running through IP tracker:
Reserved IP Addresses for private internet use
You have entered reserved IP Address 10.189.30.2 for private internet use
and IP lookup for these will return not results.

I'd have to check with our network experts, but I would be inclined to trust any IP that we route you via to get to your destination (that part is up to you).

Some IP's may not respond as they don't like UDP floods for security reasons.

day 5 of no connection. @AfriMan is never online despite asking me to stick to comms via the mybb forum.
I called Frogfoot today myself and they guy provisioned the line for AH over the phone for me, the AH router still says unable to obtain IP from DHCP server. Called AH support they said hard reset the router and try again - I did it, no change. WA support tells me to "open google and search for activate.afrihost.com and press enter" after I tried to explain that if I don't get a DHCP IP address via the router (or via plugging in directly to the ONT) then no webpage will load, when I asked for someone more technical she ended the WA chat.

Who's meant to help with this exactly? How many days of being passed around amongst people who don't have the knowledge to help before this issue can be resolved?

I'm really sorry about the slow response. We're a little under pressure here, but I have had someone looking into this on our side. She was pretty sure everything was up and running as per my last message. She's busy checking in now, but the connection seems to be intermittent, so it seems like there is an issue on the provider's side which she is going to escalate :(

I'm not aware of any routing issues at present - international performance should be pretty good right now to Europe and the rest of the world :(

Looking at your ticket 261ms to USA is pretty excellent, anything over 300ms is not optimal, but the US is pretty much the furthest route for traffic, depending on which coast you are hitting.

As per PM, I phoned Frogfoot telephone support and within the first minute of our conversation he understood the issue with the DHCP that I was having and didn't ask me to "go to google" or reformat my router. He reprovisoned the line and it's done. He mentioned I should not be phoning them, AH should be - they are told they should not provide support to end users because that's what we pay the ISP for - but yes, thank ****, a 5 minute call to frogfoot solved 5 days of back and forth with AH.
Imagine a regular home user who would continuously try to "go to google", how on earth would it ever be resolved?

if you're on windows OS, download tcpoptimizer4, set slider to linespeed, choose optimise and restart.

Glad that it's all sorted - sorry about the confusion. I would definitely like to get more info so I can give feedback to our guys. It's the first case that I have come across where this was required, so we'll need to make sure it's on our troubleshooting checklist.

I am using an amazon firetv cube device for my streaming. i never had an issue with buffering. i am using netflix USA, Hulu with live tv and disney +. Thanks for the tcp optimizer i will test in on my pc in the mean time

Any reason why would you guys route traffic via telkomas seen in my traceroute. also if you look at the speed test result i had sent, you will see USA Speedtest server in washington the dowload and upload is BAD

I only saw the traceroute in your ticket. Washington is west coast, so it would be the furthest possible distance in terms of latency, etc.

That's what I'm getting to Washington, which is pretty decent considering the distance.

any reason why i dont get that speed to washington. i have done a speed test to the same server as you. look at the results an no other devices are connected. if i do a test locally in sa i get my 100 download

Remember that you can't get full speed to a destination at this latency. My line speed is much higher, so I am able to get a higher proportionate speed. In fact, it's about on par with your result. You will never be able to get 100Mbps true speed to the US on a 100Mbps line. However, 20Mbps should be sufficient to stream in HD, and definitely fine for gaming as well. latency might be a little high (but definitely good for SA to USA) - that will depend on the game, and the server rules.

do single thread test, that shows real world performance. what fiber network and area you on? sounds like packetloss like people get on frogfoot or octotel or metro.

3rd week into this issue and many of the same requested tests later. I get asked to run them again....

You guys have missed the plot multiple times now. Been patient but clearly your support only reads the last message and not the ticket thread. Honestly starting to feel like an automated message

Thanks Afrihost but I'm out

I'm actually disappointed.. I signed up within the promo period for 2 free months... Was told by WhatsApp support person the first time that yes I qualify... Today I checked again, and told a different story, yet somebody who only signed up a few days ago, will receive his 2 months free. So what gives?
