My experience has been really bad from the start. I have Pure Fibre with Teralink on a 100Mbps/100Mbps line. I'm getting 9ms latency with 36Mbps down and 13Mbps up doing the mybroadband speedtest. I don't know where the issue is or who is responsible for this poor performance. Is it Teralink or Afrihost? I'm contemplating just downgrading my line to 50Mbps or slower as I've never seen 100Mbps. Best I ever get is 80Mbps down.

I would love to know what's going on.

Hey @AfriMan
Why has PUBG latency stayed absolutely terrible even after the cables have been fixed? Some nights the pings are actually worse on the fixed cables than it was when you guys were on SEACOM. Every other european service runs perfectly fine at 170-180ms, but PUBG barely manages 200ms.

This is on Openserve, Durban.
My friends and I are experiencing the same issue, specifically with PUBG. After the cables were fixed, and up until the 21st of Feb, we were averaging between 170 and 185 (we're all from CPT and PTA). Since then we've had awful latency, consistently getting 210 or higher (during peak and non-peak hours).

Something is certainly going on

Cannot wait for next week, when I move to a new ISP - packet loss was horrendous last night (plot is to the Guild Wars 2 (European) game server):

No loss on that traceroute. The devices on those IPs just does not respond to ICMP packets

Also take not of the ixp.joburg hop. Afrihost is not carrying the traffic. That traffic is going over Amazon transit. It's your cable provider and Afrihost up until hop 7.

Whatever it was resulted in extreme game lag and at times being disconnected to the game server - very frustrating for PvP situations, yet when I swap over to my emergency ISP, gaming was smooth without any issues.

Good Day

I am new to MyBB. I don't know if I am asking this question on the correct thread.
I currently have a 100mb Openserve fibre line through Afrihost.
Frogfoot rolled out about a year ago in Menlo Park and I see I can get the same line for cheaper through Frogfoot via Afrihost.

My main reason for fibre is HD Streaming and Online Gaming that needs very low Latency.

How does Openserve and Frogfoot compare to each other for gaming and HD streaming, as I can get a 200mb line with Frogfoot for R100 cheaper than a 100mb line with Openserve.

Thank you guys

Eben

Hi AfriFella,
I have a 20Mbps FF connection and had very poor connectivity last night. I logged a call with AH and this morning get the standard AH feedback we have to reset your router etc etc. In the meanwhile FF have a message on their website that there is connectivity issues in my area, Strand/Somerset West.
Now here is my question, why is AH not aware of the FF issues and why couldn't they respond with that info on the call they logged?
How does it work? I would really appreciate it if AF could enlighten me what to do in future with any network issues.
I look forward to your response.

Sigh, @AfriMan @AfriFella and @AfriGuy

So 3-4 days now, no response and PUBG latency is still absolute rubbish. Is this a permanent thing or are you guys actually going to do something about it. It seems like it affects any gaming service hosted on AWS.
