Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

No response, no resolution, no indication it was even read or forwarded. Wonder if whoever's running the forum account these days just logs in once every 24 hours. It's worse than ever today/tonight. Pretty pathetic service/support.
Yeah I'm also rather annoyed that I can't really play any games with EU based servers. @AfriGuy @AfriFella Is there no resolution in sight?

Hey hey,

We'd love to help. Do you have a ticket ID reported to the relevant department with the tests?

I have never been a fan of uncapped products because they are always slower and less reliable than capped.
I have been using my pure fibre account for the last few days and while its mostly ok there are still noticeable ping spikes when gaming and using latency sensitive applications.
Guess I will have to give it a little more time to decide if its worth being on the uncapped account.

You'll let us know if you need anything though?

Hi Guys

So I have been on a Capped package (200GB + 200GB) for R917pm for a while. (20mbps down).
The new package offerings on their site for R917 Mbps per month give you 40 Mbps down and Uncapped and UnShaped.

So they sent this mail saying they are upgrading my speed to 40mbps just during lockdown. I then checked their website, and my cap seem to be in the Terabyte range, but hard to tell for sure..... Dashboard is pretty confusing

So have they automatically upgraded me to the new package benefits for R917, or left me on my old one? Hard to tell for sure. They are not very responsive to my support logs, and don't seem to understand my question....

Anyone have any idea?

@AfriFella ; @Afrihost-Gian

Regards
Chris

Morning @AfriGuy , quick question, I am moving house on the 1st June. Have installed a line already there that's active.
I want to cancel my current line, before I get billed for it. But I need to know if the line I'm cancelling will stay active until the last day of the month, not stranding me without internet.

WhatsApp help is offline still, hence the question here.

Hey Chris, I understand that our dashboard can be confusing, our Dev team is always trying to make things a little better.

We want the best for our clients, so we’ve decided to phase out our old Fibre solutions. All legacy Fibre clients have been moved to an uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled Pure Fibre package - at no additional cost to you.

Hey RickMaver47
All the cancellations which are submitted before the cutoff date are processed at the end of the month. Have you checked if your new area has fibre coverage already?

Seems like it's luck of the draw then.

But 3 people inside of 20 km of each other, same provider, same package, same router. All issues resolved by replacing routers. Coincidence?
I'm having issues with the DLink DIR-825. It is fine for standard browsing and even streaming netflix. But with voice calls now that we have this working from home and lockdown, there is packet loss and unstable Wi-Fi that you only pick up with voice calls on VOIP. Tried everything. Basically points to Wi-fi on the router. I tried a second new 825 and less packet drops but still unstable Wi-FI. Doesn't help when you on an important call. Afrihost gives you the same response, test this test that. My only techie days led me to the issue. I think I need to turf anything linked to he DLink 825. Neighbor uses a Tenda AC6 and no issues... that router is even a lower spec router to the 825. Now configured it per DLink forums switch stuff off etc. I hope to solve most of the issues- but still getting the odd packet drop on a ping test. LAN cable works fine.. definitely Wi-Fi issue.

Please share some links to help optimise this router, it really is giving me a hard time

Just a shout out to Afrihost and Frogfoot. Fibre finally went live in my area last Saturday and I immediately jumped onto their website to place my order. This Saturday they came to do the installation and, even though there was a problem with the fibre, it was all sorted out on a return visit yesterday (a Sunday!). Done and dusted in a week and I'm a happy camper. Thanks, guys!
