Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

@AfriMan - so when i ordered my Pure Fibre today, I did not ask for a router to be included as I already have one. Thinking about it - seeing that it's free as part of the 5K promo - i might as well take one and set it up as an AP somewhere in the house no? Else i'Il lose out on 1K here . . . .

That possible ?

Also - I ordered the migration of my OS 100Mbps today - If say a week after i'm live i decide to up that to 200Mbps - does the "package" that i sign up for today stay the same "package" - and will it still continue to be UUU ( uncapped, unshaped, unthrottled ) even on 200Mbps?

I'm just looking at this bit of fine print - because i don't see anything written that explains what happens if you change your speed after what you originally "ordered" - which in my case is 100Mbs - see what i mean :

What i want to avoid is for AH to have an argument that i "ordered" a 100, but changed the "package" after changing the speed to say 200, so therefore its not the "promo" anymore and so AH is in their right to treat ( read shape, throttle etc ) it differently. Not saying that will happen - but playing devils advocate here.

Hope that makes sense.

Tcp window scaling is usually the culprit. On speedtest.net I get about 12Mbps upload to London on my windows pc. On my Sasmung S10 connected to to 5Ghz wifi I get close to max upload speed to the same server in London.

You're changing from Pure Fibre to Pure Fibre, so the rules stay the same, regardless of when you changed your package.

Order the router normally, and I'll chat to the warehouse to mark it as part of your credit. Please just drop me a PM when you've done it so I can make sure we do the credit, otherwise it may bill you.

You'll have to do a regular order through ClientZone or the website and complete as if you are paying for the router. If you pay by credit card it may bill you - the system is really quick. But we should be able to do the credit and refund within 24 hours or so.

Hi , just a question regarding migration , I'm moving from supersonic (still waiting for them to arrange cancellation 48 hours later :mad::mad:) . Will there be any downtime once they release the line for migration ? (need to let the wifey know there will be no youtube/netflix :) for x amount of time) . Do Supersonic need to release line or do you request the line etc , not sure how it works
 
@AfriMan - the promo page says "Up to 2 months free service*" but I cannot find the explanation of the asterisk anywhere. What's the fine print regarding the 2 months?

Also - how would a migration work on Octotel? If it is indeed 2 months free, and I were able to get my current ISP to release the line seeing as I'll still be paying them for the cancellation month since I'm not paying you - would Afrihost be able to activate immediately? Would there be downtime, as the post before has asked?

I'm also moving from Supersonic.

So you will have to pay the clawback cancellation fee with Supersonic. Ask for an invoice.

If you are on Openserve signup with Afrihost and give them your fibre B number. You would need to wait out the 30 days cancellation with Supersonic.

With Afrihost the R5000 value is epic. R999 for activation. R999 for new dlink router leaves you with R3002 left which will ofset the cancellation charge from Supersonic so make sure to get an invoice from them so Afrihost can credit your account. They won't pay Supersonic directly so you need to pay that but they will credit your Afrihost account so for the next 3 months at least you have free fibre from Afrihost which is nice.

I saw it somewhere on the website. I believe the up to means rest of activation moth and then 1 month after your activation month. So if you activate on 28th of the month you just get the rest of that month free and then the following month. If you activate on the 2nd then the rest of that month and the following month hence the Up to 2 months free.

If you MIGRATE - you actually get 3 months - so you ( @Seeyou ) are MIGRATING - so you get 3. The 2 months is for NEW signups - in other words peeps without an active fibre connection and ISP at their premises.

So if your line becomes active at AH on the 16th of August for example - you get the rest of that month PRO RATA for free ( thats month 1 ) - and then Sepetember & October is free. New signups will get August pro-rata free ( 1st month ) and then only September free ( month 2 )
