It depends on the provider. With Openserve they release the line into the holding pool (like a copper line) and then we request it. With other providers using DHCP, they have to remap the line to our network, IP addresses, etc.

Usually there it little to no downtime, becuase everything is setup on our side well in advance.

It's on openserve , ok so when the line is released I should be able to plug in the router next day or whatever and it should work ?

Yeah, you should just need to change your username and everything will work. The line itself will happen in the background.

How do you see when our B numbers are released to the pool ? Do you constantly monitor the B numbers of the recent new signups from OS ?

We can always confirm if the line is in the Holding pool. We also have an api which does this automatically, as long as you have submitted your order.

Ohh okay. So my order is confirmed and approved just waiting activation so that will happen as soon as Afrihost picks it up from the holding pool. Can that happen over a weekend too?

@AfriMan - another question which is rather unique to my situation. We're likely going to be moving to another area soon. I'm currently on Octotel, and the area we end up in will probably be with Openserve. If I were to migrate now - I assume I'd have to cancel when the time came to move and re-order on the opposite side. Presumably by then (later this year) the special will have run out / sold out - would I be able to keep the benefits or will I only be able to sign up at the normal pricing?

If the promotion ends, unfortunately you won't be able to bank it for later, especially since these are two separate providers. i am sure we can try to sort you out though. Best to get it done and signed up now and then we deal with that when it comes. I'm really hoping that we can keep this running for a really long time.

My new neighbours will be moving in during the course of August - newly built house, We had a chat last night and he asked me how much I'm paying for fibre, so I told him.

Given that the date of moving in is not certain yet (it might even be September), would it be wise of me to tell him to register with you before this promotion ends and then the installation and free two months start when he moves in?

That is an interesting question

So what if someone moves and stays with the same FNO ( Say Openserve ) - surely that should be OK ?

First night after changing from capped to Pure Uncapped - No issues this side. Happy

Anybody use NNTP on Pure Fibre with 100mbps+ line speed? What are your download speeds like?

How's general browsing? Twitch streaming? And I know they're locally mirrored now, but how is Youtube/Netflix etc?

So are you moving again meneer? I must confess, I'm really tempted!! Home-connect has been great but R2288 vs R1497? First 3 months free?!!! Hard to beat!

Very hard to beat and what is your single thread performance looking like?

Can you beat this? Lower than I got with Supersonic ever

When you say lower than you ever got on Supersonic, are you talking about the ping?
