@AfriMan, I'd like to migrate from Rocketnet to your 100/100 offering. They have a 1 month cancellation notice. How do we go about this?
Hi 8

I think you can just go ahead and order a migration via the client zone ( create an account if you don't have one already ), it will pick up your address and which FNO's cater for your address, and then just follow the wizard from there...

Hey man,

I had thought the same, but wanted to make sure I dont loose out on any of the freebies if I did so. Also not sure how it works with the cancellation notice I need to give Rocketnet.

Well the longer you wait possible that the freebies gets finished. As Fjorko said maybe better to order it so long. Out of the R5000 you will get the activation free so depending on who your cable provider is minus that activation fee from the R5000. Then you get a dlink router worth R999 too so minus that from the R5k too then if Rocketnet charges you some kind of cancellation fee for releasing your line immediately you would need to pay that and send the invoice to [email protected] and they will credit your account with that amount. The 3 months free option is separate from the R5k promo.

If Rocketnet does not want to release your line immediately then just wait out the cancellation because you will still get the promo if you signed up with Afrihost as far as I know.

Not sure if this was asked already, but what I want to downgrade the package after the 3 months? Can this be done or must I stick to the line speed I ordered?

Can be done apparently - no issues ( At least upping the speed is OK - so im sure downing it will be OK too )

Junna - i just hope this isn't like back in the Telkom Uncapped LTE days where it ran all guns blazing for the first few months, and then went south rapidly once everyone jumped on it......I will try to stay optimistic though.... :)

I'm confident you're not going to have that experience. We've really padded our capacity to make sure we're good even if sign-ups exceed our projections. And we can add more VERY quickly if we need :)

Any way to get my number changed in the system? Trying to sign up and it’s asking me for an OTP that’s sent to a number I don’t currently have on me.

We can manually sent OTP via email. You can do that over the phone. You could email or PM me, problem is that the OTP goes "stale" if not used within a certain time, so best to do it in realtime. WhatsApp might also be a good option.

I get why Afrihost (or any other ISP for that matter) would not give real time view of their network and utilization, but would really love to see how busy they get, and more importantly how close they get to full capacity.

We've often spoken about this - there are arguments for and against. We love the transparency component, but we also don't want to create confusion and panic in those who don't really know how to intepret the data.

But maybe someday we'll do it.

You can go ahead and sign up. When your line is ready to move over to us, we'll start the promotion from the activation date. So you'll get the full 3 months of free service :)

You'll also have to cancel with them as well.

Yeah you can. But why would you want to? I upgraded from 20Mbps to 100Mbps. No way I could go back.

4K Netflix - how do you go back??

@cavedog what happened between you and supersonic? You were actually the reason I went with supersonic to begin with as you had a lot of good to say about them initially, so just kinda curious I guess.

Just cought up on this thread and i must say I am REALLY tempted at the moment to sign up for this offer, only thing holding me back is the whole process of canceling which is a really annoying process.

I suggest you read the last few pages of the Supersonic thread to fully understand why he is leaving them. I'm not going to give all the details here, but it boiled down to IPC congestion on Supersonic's end that he notified them of. They didn't do anything to really resolve it. He was obviously not satisfied with their service and replies. There was a whole debacle with cancellation fees, penalties and what not (he had pay them R5K+) in order to get rid of them and their service.

Anyhow, that's just the short story, more details in the Supersonic thread :D

Okay well very briefly because we are going off topic. Supersonic has great network honestly it's just so good but the anchor of Openserve is their IPC. It's super expensive so usually only gets upgraded as a last resort because idle capacity is a loss to the ISP. I believe Supersonic has IPC congestion but they deny it. At nightime peak latency is sky high and speeds slow. 6am latency is super low line speeds. Clear indication of congestion but they deny is so after a month and a half I decided to part ways and they smacked me with a huge cancellation fee which I feel is unfair because if you can't provide me with what I'm paying and I'm forced to move how do think it's still okay to charge me.

So decided to take Afrihosts new Pure fibre offer because no FUP and their previous home fibre FUP on Openserve was  so decided to change to them. The free months. R5000 value in free activation, Free router and the credit for the Supersonic cancellation fee was pretty damn good and it was just for a 6 months commitment or R999 cancellation fee if you cancel before that.

They always had a great network the FUP just wasn't worth it for me. Supersonic was nice and I can see why they are rated number 1 because on Vumatel they are flawless but on Openserve they were just not working for me at the end and so we part ways. Now just waiting for my line to move over next week Thursday and then that is it.

@StoneCold Are you thinking of moving over because you are browsing this forum.

Thanks will give WhatsApp a try rather.

Ja look, the whatsapp feature that AH implemented is very convenient i think. Later they should think about manning it 24/7. Peeps will love that idea to know there is someone in the other side all the time, especially after hours

That is an interesting question

So what if someone moves and stays with the same FNO ( Say Openserve ) - surely that should be OK ?
@AfriMan - just on the question i asked above. You mentioned that it will not be possible to stay on the PF special if you move house and change FNO, but what if you move and stay with the same FNO - for example Openserve ? Is this OK ? Obviously the new line will have a different B number - but I'm sure its a matter of the previous owner just releasing it and you guys picking it up for the new owner ( existing customer ) ?

Hmmm , is this correct ? , why is it saying that a line installation is required , when I ordered I gave openserve number and said I'm migrating . I'm referring to the fact that it says a line installation is required

i'm sure it's just a canned message.
