Not at this stage, I'm still happy with CISP ;).

However, if you guys are still with Afrihost after 6 months and their network is still running like a boss on Openserve, then I might decide to jump ship in the new year and save the extra R400 a month.

I also like to browse between the different ISP threads and see what they're up to and how happy their customers are :cool:

You could always save R2 monthly. Get 3 months free and double your speed.

True, but I haven't been a CISP customer for 12 months and would be viable for the free installation costs, hence why I can't jump ship just yet.

Well Afrihost does credit that cancellation fee back to your Afrihost account. So you do only start paying after your 3 months run out and your credit runs out. For me it will be like 5 months free 200/100Mbps fibre with Afrihost. Afrihost credited my account with R2600 this morning to offset the cancellation fee I had to pay with Supersonic. So technically not free but had I switched to another provider that cancellation fee I paid would have been lost where now I get a service equal to the amount. I don't think anyone offers this value for money deal right now.

Obviously I'm not trying to convince anyone to change I'm just pointing out the value for money in the deal. I was set on changing to Macrolan in fact so this deal just dropped perfectly for me.

Dang! That truly is an unbelievable deal. Didn’t realize it was quite this good. May need to immediately stop it! ;)

Seriously though thank you for giving us another chance Cavedog - We’ll do our best to make it one of the best tech decisions you’ve ever made.

It's super expensive so usually only gets upgraded as a last resort because idle capacity is a loss to the ISP. I believe Supersonic has IPC congestion but they deny it. R5000 value in free activation, Free router and the credit for the Supersonic cancellation fee was pretty damn good and it was just for a 6 months commitment or R999 cancellation fee if you cancel before that.

They always had a great network the FUP just wasn't worth it for me. Supersonic was nice and I can see why they are rated number 1 because on Vumatel they are flawless but on Openserve they were just not working for me at the end and so we part ways. Now just waiting for my line to move over next week Thursday and then that is it.

Sorry again for posting another off topic reply but supersonic really did do you bad man.

I wouldn't say supersonic are much better on vumatel either as I also had to struggle with them for over a month with an account issue and in the end after 2 manager calls they still blamed it on vumatel. I would honestly put them up there on telkom's level with regards to support.

From the early results being posted here, afrihost might actually end up being one of the best in terms of quality with this offer and they do seem to have the network to handle congestion but I guess only time will tell.

If the quality of the network remains stable by the end of the year thrn I will be jumping ship.

So as expected, Openserve was at my house and told me the trenching through the neighbours garden will be for my own account, which i need to organise. Seems like quite a mission actually

I've noticed that when I connect via VPN to a UK server the download speed of my 200/100 pure fibre line drops down to just under 20 Mbps - is there anything I can do about it?

I use the VPN connection to log onto Eurosport Player for the Tour de France...
 
Quick question. Managed to logon to client zone and make an order. If I want to start from next month? Doesn't seem to be a setting for that and my order is sitting in processing?Don't want to give the Object Number as yet in case it causes other problems on my line for the moment.

I'm sure many of our competitors are scratching their heads wondering how we can offer this. All I can say that when you have your clients at heart - the way is clear. It can be scary - in fact the term big hairy scary balls keeps popping up - but we've always found that investing in our clients always pays off.
