I have the same switch, 5 port version though, and have seen the same thing. It occasionally negotiates with my MikroTik router at 100M. Resolved it by setting the port on the MikroTik to only advertise 1G which seems to have worked. Try simply unplugging it and plugging it back into your internet equipment so it re-negotiates at the correct rate. These TP-Link switches are rated at 16GB/s switching capacity for the 8 port version and 10GB/s for the 5 port version so I'm sure they can handle being fully loaded![]()
I'll watch and wait patiently![]()
Hi @AfriMan and @Afrihost-Gian
I just entered my Afrihost PPPoE settings into my router for the first time.
1. Do I also qualify for the first 3-months free of charge?
2. Should I do anything else to activate my line except for just entering the username and password I got from the ClientZone?
Please let me know.
Thank you so much, much appreciated. You will get a activation sms and email. Once account is activated then rest of this month is free and the following 2 months is free. You should get an invoice which is credited for the remainder of this month.
Nope just change the PPPoE details and you won't even know when the line has been in the holding pool and snatched by Afrihost. No downtime

I'm seeing some packet loss of the IPC hop but it's not congestion. No latency spikes in game and still get ~120Mbps single to London which would not happen if there is more than 3% packet loss.
Yeah Packet loss is on the IPC. Anyone in JHB/PTA on Openserve can confirm?
Here is Cybersmart
Yeah international single thread speeds have tanked. 3% + packetloss on IPC.

Single thread to London seems alright:

Whatever is up with the IPC isn't having a noticeable effect on my internet. Everything is flying as usual.

Thanks Cavedog. Asked our guys to take a closer look. Weird one. From what I can see the IPC definitely wasn't over utilized last night. Thanks again for the feedback.Thanks. This morning it's fine hopefully it's not sign of congestion thought.

Oh, the reason my PC wasn't getting a 1Gbps link to the router wasn't because of the main switch. I just needed to replace the short Cat5e cable between the Cat5e termination point in the wall and switch on my desk. Must have been a faulty cable, because it was definitely 5e and not 5.
Could be. One of my cables messed me around like that before with a Zyxel router and then I force 1Gbps but then it's like the cable is still unplugged.
