Anybody knows why this is happening? Ethernet WAN is receiving packets but neither my wired or wireless connections are doing any downloads? I am on a 20/20 and when this happens the whole internet is slow, huge packet loss and high ping.

We were thinking that maybe it's a DDoS but when you are behind our CGN you are not accessible externally which means whatever is causing this is not from an external source.

That leave us with something within the TT network causing the issue.

I'm speaking to our system engineer to see if we can dump traffic logs for your connection to see where this traffic is going and coming from.

Morning,

We have picked up a switch failure in Rondebosch.

We are working on a fix asap.

A large number of clients in CPT and surround is down.

Apologies for the downtime experienced.

I am having weird issues. My WiFi is down and when I sign into my WiFi from my phone I am getting the Afrihost Fibre login page.

On my wired PC Firefox is coming up with the "you must log in to this network etc" even though internet is working

Yes the box that runs the user mapping is down due to the switch failure. This is causing issues with user mapping so the system that is on is kicking clients off the network.

As you may know about IPv4 and how limited the allocations are that ISPs get and given how expensive these are now it's not feasible to spend millions on IP addresses when most clients do not need public IP addresses.

We use a block of IP addresses and then share them amongst clients. We need to create internal IP address for this to work so the WAN ip address that you get is 100.99. but your shared public IP address is 169.

To remove the natting we allocate you a public IP that is unique to you. This allows you to access locally hosted services like CCTV ect remotely.

Mobile network do this on a large scale so it's not something new.

This could explain why I was blocked from browsing CPU-World:

Hi everyone,

Invoices was sent out today for everyone. Clients on the 200/100 Openserve line speeds were invoiced R1497. Our Dev team have fixed this and loaded a R380 credit to all accounts that has an active 200/100 Openserve line.

You can confirm this by logging into clientzone and pulling an account history under the billing tab. ;)
