I am done with Vumatel's pricing. I cancelled today. The message that came back didn't specify when I will be cancelled. Can you check for me @AfriNatic ? I need to order an alternative service in the mean time (LTE). If I order LTE today, how long does it take to get the sim?
Does not compute. LTE is more expensive than vumatel pricing.

I can get 10Mbps uncapped Vumatel fibre for the price of 150 Gb capped LTE.
I need more than 10 Mbps and I use up to 150 Gb a month. Makes logical sense to go with a 30-90mbps service rather than 10.
I'm currently paying R1500 a month, I can save R550 a month if I'm prepared to sacrifice speed.
There's nothing to compute, they're different services, but last time I looked R750 < R1500 :)

Oh, I was using 1TB a month on 10mb vuma. Upgraded to 50mb and now averaging about 2TB per month. Just streaming.

If you submitted the cancellation today then the line will only be cancelled at the end of June.

Invoices was already generated for next month.

Do you not perhaps have ADSL/VDSL coverage?

I do but I switched to LTE because ADSL was unreliable. I was paying for 20 and getting 10 as well... nah thanks.
I cancelled but claimed my free month and will very likely cancel before the 15th. It was offered, I may as well make use of it :)

@AfriNatic do you know which month will be free? I just received the bill for June.
Ta!

Yes the retentions team will load it for you.

Maybe reconsider ADSL ? There is been quite a bit of capacity freed up due to people switching to fibre and that is likely still the case since you are covered by fibre.

With Pure DSL you don't need a Telkom account at all and R397 give you 10Mbps all inclusive or R597 for 20Mbps all inclusive.

If you want LTE. MTN LTE is pretty good. With the temporary spectrum the average speeds have been really good all over.

Awesome, thanks. The ADSL option will require physical presence and reconnection from the pole (in my yard) since telkom took my old line down. I'd be happy to try if I could tell what speeds are but LTE will be the quicker solution. I'm going to get MTN and Telkom prepaid sims to test speeds.

ohh okay they took the copper cable down that was there before?

You can dm me your address so I can double check the coverage and feasibility.

Thanks, will do. It's only the link to the pole that's down. The pole is still there with the multi pair incoming and junction box. Will DM you shortly.

AfriNatic can I DM you in connection with new Open serve Afrihost fiber installation problem

Hi,

We are aware of the increased latency to international destinations during peak time.

We have lost 2 of our high capacity international links.

EASSy is down due to a cable fault
SAT-3 direct route to Frankfurt is down due to capacity upgrades.

Currently we are running on WACS capacity only which is taking a bit of strain during peak time.

We have alternative routes coming live soon that will alleviate the latency and slow international speeds during peak time. No ETA on the live date of these routes yet unfortunately.

All in a days work for a large ISP.

Your poor network admins likely get a daily delivery from the local bottle store.
