With Vodacom there might be some delays if you were using Vodacom direct.

They need to swap the ONT for an open access ONT. This might be a couple of days delay.
Vodacom Direct as in the ISP?
My current ISP is not Vodacom, they're just the FNO.

That looks very bad. How is the latency looking?
Sketchy, but noting that my mesh software doesn’t measure latency (I have to do that via WiFi).

I think the line stability is messing with the latency measurement. I’m getting between 240ms & 11ms (to AH server).

Ohh okay in that case it's an ISP change which should not be a long delay. I would say order a couple of days before your current ISP stops.

I'm getting over 500ms on the 1st hop on a local tracert. Bloody insane.

50D4FCCB-8F83-4278-9ED1-B6E0B11E1758.jpeg Biggest liability is being on @Frogfoot Fibre

Second biggest liability would seem to combine that with an Afrihost account.

@AfriNatic I’d recommend you guys review offering a “service” on their network. This is damaging your product.

We have changed the notice to national while we work with FrogFoot noc engineers to identify and resolve the intermittent, slow speeds and high latency that clients are experiencing.

With regard to billing it would be best to speak to our accounts team to see if there is anything they can assist with.
Have you ever dealt with your billings guys?
They’re awesome. I had >10 days with no uploads. They don’t consider that worthy of credit, because when it was up, it was at 0.1Mbps. So not an outage.

And this FF issue: just an inconvenience, not an outage.

They also don’t do anything without an instruction from technical. And technical says it’s an accounts issue.

It’s all just, wonderful.

On FF in CPT, I'm seeing 1 out of 5 connection attempts time out on the first hop after the gateway. Just stopping and trying again normally works. Latency is fine, speeds are fine, just that first hop sometimes fails. It is very frustrating because for many applications you can't actually cancel the request, you just have to wait for it to time out and try again.

Switching to the LTE failover WAN link and everything is 100% fine.

@AfriNatic
@AfriFella, @Afrihost-Gian I hope you can help me, I signed up to move my fibre ISP from Home-Connect to Afrihost. Home-Connect have confirmed the cancellation by email and my fibre connection was disconnected. I am now stuck with no fibre connection as Afrihost says they are unable to process the order because the fibre line is still being used by Home-Connect. Is the problem Vumatel? How can I resolve this problem so Afrihost can connect to my existing fibre line? Is it because my fire line was originally with SADV or is Vumatel not doing the job of switching my fibre? How long will I have to wait? [#TCU-680-37884]

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out.

I have checked the ONT serial number and it shows an active service with another ISP.

It's likely that Home-Connect did not terminate the service properly. They might have cancelled your PPPoE details but the actual line is still configured for the previous ISP.

@AfriNatic Since load shedding is here now, I will invest in a UPS but given that I don't have one atm, is there any precautionary measures I should take with the router and/or ONT like turning it off by the plug switch or should I just leave it in?
