Chugging along fine here. Vumatel

I just checked with our Network Team. There is currently an ongoing optimisation being implemented regarding the latency issue that you've sited.
I honestly would not be certain on how soon you should expect improvement on the latency you are currently experiencing.

That's.. a rather vague and non-committal response. Latency and response time is a huge part of online gaming, and currently my pings are anywhere up to 50ms higher than they should be. If AH can't/won't confirm that this is being addressed and give some kind of timeline, I'd have to reconsider my move, and I'd imagine others would be in the same boat.

EDIT: I'd like to add I'm very happy with literally every other aspect of pure fibre, but sub-optimal latencies shouldn't be an issue these days and would be a deal breaker for me.

I would need to take a look into your specific profile to confirm the implications of your Package change request. Do you mind PM'ing me your details so that I can check for you
PM sent

What's going on? I'm on one of the new uncapped accounts, yet I'm getting this error and have no connectivity

Power went out yesterday in Die Hoewes, Centurion area it seems.

Was back on when I got home after work, but connection was all over the place 5/10/20/50Mbps down on Speedtest (even with different SA servers and the auto server option)

Could barely stream anything from Youtube via Chromecast; very low quality and lots of buffering/freezing.

I've paid to upgrade to the 100/100 line on MF for the month to test it, but now getting max 50/50. Rebooted it all last night, but still the same issue. Still the same max 50/50 today, though seemed to stream better.

Anyone experience the same/any reason for this? Bit kik paying extra to try a faster line and not getting anywhere near it. Was fine before though.

@AfriMan

Got an email yesterday saying that migration couldnt happen - vuma said the line hadn't been released. Previous isp have confirmed that line was released 'as of yesterday' but the service is still up. Please assist, dont want to risk being without net for the long weekend.

5 days is not that long hahaha.. Just kidding..

That's not cool...wait let me guess ...dropped another ball ?:D:D
How many balls do these guys have?
Yes.

This is their response via WhatsApp:
Okay, I see that your line has been suspended due to an outstanding amount of R374.19 which was not supposed to happen. Please contact our accounts team on our toll-free line 0800 011 000 or email at [email protected]

As usual, I disagreed with my wife when she told me that the internet was down - something with this router they give lets my phone continue displaying the WiFi icon, even though it's disconnected is what confused me  Now I owe her a chocolate.

Anyway, they've managed to resolve the issue just before I left for work.

Hi @AfriFella @AfriGuy @AfriGenie @Afrigirl

I am experiencing very bad twitch.TV performance. Ive made a ticket about this before and was told its not an Afrihost thing but that twitch's performance in SA is just bad - i dont accept this.

So i tested it with my mobile data, and had a friend who lives in the same area (different ISP and fibre provider) and he could stream on 1080p constant.

I have a 50 down/ 50 up connection and should be able to stream in 1080p (source quality) without a problem. My speed last night was between 38-49 mbps so i am not fussy about that but i could not even keep the stream on 360p constantly without it dropping frames and buffering. With that speed i should not have any issues and thus I have to suspect routing or throttle/shaping is the issue, which is unacceptable on my package and the anount i spend to enjoy this package.

When you set the quality to auto it goes up to 1080p for about a minute then scales itself down to 140p and then starts moving back up again.

Please advise as this is just not on for the amount of money I pay pm and also the package that I chose should be able to perform these functions. I should also not be throttled or shaped and I have a suspicion you guys might be doing exactly that for twitch/youtube which is against my package terms of service.

Hey @jadiwolv , I am also in Pretoria and i had twitch running last night on 1080p the whole night. I didn't see any problem. I am on 100/100 with frogfoot ! Let me know the stream you would like me to test and i will test it tonight and let you know if i see anything.

Hi Seeyou, I am terribly sorry that the response from AfriGuy seemed a bit vague.

I assure you that we will do our level best to assist you with investigating your query and provide you with a solution around this as soon as we can. I understand how frustrating this might be for you, and we do take this seriously.

Unfortunately, this can't be rectified in a day, I will need to liaise with our network team to assist me with checking out what might be the issue here, and get back to you as soon as possible.

Please can you give me time to look into this for you?

Hi WarrieP This doesn't sound right at all . I am terribly sorry that you had experienced issues with your connectivity last night after your power cute. This shouldn't be happening. I can have a look at your account for you if you are still having difficulties with your service. Please can you send me your Clientzone details via PM so that I can have a look for you?
