Ok so I set it up from scratch again and followed the required steps, including enabling ‘Dynamic IPv4’ as the WAN connection type. No dice, I'm afraid.
"Failed to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server".

So I connected back up my old ASUS router with the old PPPoE details as supplied by CISP from back when I signed up with them. I can still connect to their network, no problem.

I feel as though I'm going around in circles here, but are you sure this isn't still a VUMA fault that has yet to be resolved?

I've mentioned this before but I think it bears repeating again. According to VUMA, currently "There is no active service on this line".

And, I'm going to quote what I was told by the CISP rep a few weeks ago:
do you have an object no. with aerial?

yeah, you should see afrihost account in shop.vuma, not no service, then you have to go to login.afrihost and enter cell no to activate, well that's what i had to do.

lol how am I supposed to do that if the site (any site) can't be reached since the AH line is not working for me.

Out of curiosity I did the same trace as Wingnut771, and was wondering if @AfriFella could tell me why mine is 10ms higher?

I have looked into your results and observed that your connection takes a different route, there is no special reason why your connection is 10ms slower. The standard deviation is normal and there will be times when your connection might be 10ms quicker.

it's a bit slower because i've set qos to 19mb to control the latency, otherwise it's not stable.

How is your download rate when qos is disabled?
Are you able to download from a different server so that we can compare the results?

you should still have access to shop.vuma if plugged directly into cpe, then login to your account.

sorry, didn't read the last part, i also got stuck there, had to whatsapp them, they had to activate manually, then i still had to activate through login.afrihost.

Should I rather ask our fibre team to give you a call about this? Please drop me a PM with your contact number and clientzone username.

still russian roulette whether it starts full speed or not but is more consistent when it does start normally:
1st attempt:

stopped it and started it again:

but then notice the latency when it starts:

so the yoyo is caused by the qos i can live with that, what i can't live with is the russian roulette as that affects the streaming and is the MAIN issue i have and the hand off dropping randomly but i see it hasn't happened for a while.

Ok I'll do that. But let me ask you something since you didn't bring it up even once, even though I mentioned it several times.

How is it possible that I can still have a fully working but apparently "cancelled" CISP line and yet have Afrihost tell me in the Client Zone that my AH Fibre line is "active"? Two Fibre lines on one ONT. It shouldn't be possible. Correct?
So then doesn't that tell you that there's a screw up somewhere at VUMA?

but don't use IDM, just single thread through browser for real world results.

Trying to find the tests I did on Home-connect 1000/100 but I don't think I did any, which is disappointing...

i've got 3 routers still in their boxes, think i'm going to ditch the edgerouterX and try the others and see if there is any difference.
