Hi Afriman,
The last week or so I can't stream at night because of terrible slow international speeds. I logged a call #VID-449-31941 but no success so far. It does not help to tell me to reset my ONT. As you can see local traffic OK but international not fine. Please tell me what must I do to sort this mess out? Can you help me perhaps?

Not aware of any international issues at the moment. We ran some tests on our side, and we're getting decent speeds (as can be expected) to US. In your tests, your latency looks pretty decent, so we'd have to do some more troubleshooting on your settings and local network to see if anything could be a factor in terms of the experience you're getting :(

Thx. It's OK now, lets see how it performs going forward

Chatted to my warehouse manager around this. He says D-Link are encouraging people to raise these issues directly to them. They are very pro-active in terms of customer service. http://www.d-link.co.za/support/

They would be in the best position to address any issues, and then include potential fixes in the next firmware patch, etc.
My uncle has a Russian D-Link that I've been assisting him with and I decided to email their support about DuckDNS not working and within the same day they had a compiled firmware update for me to test out - took about 3 tries but now (as of 5 mins ago) duckdns is working. Quite impressed.

I don't know what to think, honestly. Is it Frogfoot, is it Afrihost, is it a much wider problem or is it just me? Can it be fixed, or is is it just the way it is or what? I wish somebody would enlighten me.

It's easy to figure out. Run a iperf or mtr to see if there is packetloss. Packetloss tankes international so quick.

Anyone else find the router think it's the Ac1200 or whatever has really poor Wi-Fi?

I mean some random Pace unit telkom gave me a couple years ago has a better Wi-Fi connection.

P. S. Yes they are on different channels.

Something I am missing here?

Country has been changed to S.A on the modem.

I swapped my parents over to AH pure fibre and the D-Link DIR-825 they got pales in comparison to the Tenda AC1200 that Home Connect gives out, unfortunately they take it back afterwards. Since they moved to the D-Link they've had buffering constantly, I bought a new AC1200 off takealot and put it in and everything is working perfectly again. They don't live in a very big place, but it used to require a repeater and now it doesn't.

I've applied for Pure Fibre and the installation is being done next week Tuesday. I have a router with a dedicated WAN port, but I am looking for a better one - one of the TP-Link Archer models to be exact. Is anyone here using a TP-Link Archer VR2800/900/600 with a fibre connection successfully? It doesn't seem to have a dedicated WAN port, but an EWAN port instead. I'm not sure if everything will work as expected by simply connecting one of these routers to the ONT?
I was using the Archer VR900 for quite a few years with VDSL as it's a modem/router combo, this is obviously not necessary for fibre. The EWAN port is the same thing as a WAN port. Tested it with my Vumatel fibre for a short while and it works fine. The only other thing I have to say about it is that TP-Link really do not like to maintain their firmware for some reason (like patching out vulnerabilities, adding quality of life things like WAN uptime stats), but the router does its job and the WiFi is pretty decent.

Hi All

Does afrihost support work on weekends ? I have been online via WhatsApp for the last 4 hours waiting for a response absolutely nothing...
Need assistance with my mitsol fibre line, seems like this morning I am not getting dhcp from my ont / cpe.

I ditched all the other garbage like the D-Link Afrihost supplied and then TP-Link Archer. The Tenda AC10 is THE BEST router you can ask for. It uses minimal power which is ideal for extended power outages when running a backup battery. It's fast and very stable with Wifi speeds giving me line speed(200Mbps) always on 5GHz. Really recommend this router and it's not even that expensive. Got it for less than R500 from Geewiz.

The Huawei routers are really good too like the B618 for 100Mbps or less and the Huawei 5G router for 200Mbps or faster lines. The Huawei H112 5G router has wifi 6 too which is really nice. Ohh and it has 5G,4G,3G and 2G as well.

On the Vumatel network it's fine. Cape Town Northern Suburbs. 20/20 line
