Afrihost reduces uncapped ADSL prices

I see Afrihost 4meg lines are R399 + R397 for uncapped 4meg comes to R797 which is the best i.t.o. price, but we have to wait and see how their 4meg line compares to Mweb. with analogue line it comes to about R930. amazing that Afrihost has broked the sub R1000 for uncapped 4meg internet in SA.

Well done Afrihost. hopefully your the performance is as good as the price.
 
I just signed up. Will switch the router over tonight and report back.

All their accounts are trial accounts in that you can cancel whenever you want (as long as it's before the 25th of the month).

LOL .. they gonna lose 500 users (only 500 Afrihost accounts) .. u think they will even notice ??? I have Mweb uncapped 1Meg .. and its SUPERB ... I get max throughput anytime .. my usage fluctuates between 200GB and 100GB a month (5 Linux Machines) and a wife and kids who cant stay off youtube .. and 1 or 2 downloads courtesy of pirate bay ..

Really as has been said about 10 times on this thread .. MWEB has done something very right, and thats quality .. in my case the extra 2 rand a month is worth it .. and if I was on 4meg, Id think the extran 100 bucks .. is well worth it for my own sanity.

You can a 4meg 10 meg circuit from RSAWeb or Wazzup for about 350 rand pm and save almost another 50 bucks
 
I have taken the Leap... will try out Afrihost for this month and see. if i am unhappy, then i will cancel and go to Mweb for once and for all.

I have also got a few back up accounts just in case they start their throttling bs again... then it will be an insta cancel.

I have a 6mbps line sync - but have signed up for the 4mb account. Why is my speed so high?

The IS 4mbps/10mbps story that the 4mbps accounts go up to 10mbps?
 
I thought Afrihost had their own uncapped setup, and if they felt you were an abuser, then you were offered an IS account...

is that not the case anymore?
 
Well their support person has told me that I can carry on getting 6mbps on my 4mbps account, no problem at all.

I've just converted 2 accounts from capped to uncapped 4mb, both currently on 10mb exchanges with both lines syncing at 10mb.
Also emailed Afrihost for their official take on the situation. If these accounts run at maximum line speed I might just jizz...
 
1st 5mb downloaded runs at full speed and then the throttle kicks in, down to 4mb... Damn it, pity but to be expected... Will check out torrents shortly...
