Afrihost reduces uncapped ADSL prices

These prices look quite good. I must admit, I am semi tempted, but Mweb will in all likelihood be a better bet. IS has however dropped a node off in cpt, so latency should be better to Cpt servers now. Double your money back guarantee you say????

hmmm. Decisions decisions. However i must say I'm concerned about their FUP.

Interesting that they made the first move to reduce 4mb prices and not mweb. Now we wait for the replies from other ISP's
 
I'll wait for some reviews this time. I was on the "previous" 4MB uncapped and got horribly throttled without notice and without any indication how and when i can prevent it from happening (i.e. Afrihost don't inform you in detail what their acceptable use policy is and it was at that stage a moving target. You can't monitor it, and you can't escape it without having a backup ISP ).

I usually download between 50gb-100gb , and Afrihost's "moving target throttle" was round about 50GB in Feb . Mweb has no such thing, not in the 100gb range anyway. So if i do my calculations, if 50GB is still the "throttle cap" (or round about there), then paying R540 vs. R397 is still the better deal :)

I think you mean R1084 vs R941. Small difference there in terms of percentages.
 
Well done Afrihost, will also wait for feedback from users before jumping ship.

Really good to see 4MB drop below R400 though, just shows how stubborn MWEB is :p.

You say this without knowing the quality of Afrihost's uncapped service.

Uncapped accounts are cheap enough. We need better performance.
 
All this depends on their FUP that has not been spelled out yet. They said last week that they are addressing their FUP, but if it is anything near what it was in the past then I'm not interested.

I do around 150Gb a month (4Meg line), no pirating, more than 80% of that traffic is YouTube. If I get shaped because of this then I'll be super upset.

Give us the revisions you made to the FUP so that we can make a more informed decision.
 
Telkom will be last in line for price drops as usual..
But this is nice..
it is R3 Cheaper for uncapped on a 1024kbps line.. than MWEB. isnt this just awsome..
 
Well done Afrihost!! Now for the other ISP's to respond and carry on the bandwidth war.
 
Got my account, pity that you can’t get the account to be activated at the start of next month :( Now i have to pay WA another month because of their calendar month cr@p.

How much did they charge you? I'm getting given two conflicting amounts when trying to sign up?? If this is an example of how their billing works then I'm not interested.
 
price reductions are gooood news!
however.... for my needs (me, wife, oldest daughter), its still cheaper to stay on capped product with Afrihost.... we still use much less than 15Gb per month.
and with the 2-for-1 offers on afrihost, it still works out cheaper to be on capped...
when my youngest kid (soon) also gets allowed onto the internet, then the usage might increase to where uncapped is better :-)

a good option to introduce would be cheap Gb price that can be carried over, (i.e. reduce the "Prepaid" option)
but its good to see the pricing come down nonetheless!

So Afrihost are finally going to introduce an uncapped product? This should be interesting.

And before someone says they had one previously had one, I tested it for a month and it was a 50GB account (after 50GB you were reduced to a 56kbps modem speed).
