It seems like Afrihost has spoilt their regular uncapped customers by making all the bandwidth available for a really long time and now that the product is performing more like the industry standard (heavy shaping) we have customers complaining.

And no, you cannot bill me for the difference. If I'm not satisfied with a product I generally move on or move to a package which would better suit my needs.

Good point there, should you implement something before or after you reach this point if you want good results for ALL your customers

Shaping most certainly shouldn't be affecting your ping at all :(
Please drop me a PM with a traceroute or too and your account info so we can see what's going on here.

Its been about a week since I gave u details on the bad ping when playing Hon on Eu servers. Over 350 ping, where as mweb and Telkom is below 220.

Any more news on this matter ?

Don't worry about it ;) it was the servers.. If it happens again I will take some screenshots!

It was, Shaping Policy: 50% Download/ 50% P2P at 12:30pm

Havnt done anything yet. Now its , Shaping Policy: 50% Download/ 37.5% P2P at 6:20pm

Thought you said Pe isn't that bad when it comes to demand :(

Shaping can be expected during peak times, the network does seem to be seeing less traffic - hardly any shaping should be seen from around 8pm or so.
 
Downloaded 70gigs on a 2mb account and I'm being heavily shaped. Last month I downloaded 370gigs and the month before 406. This is really getting out of hand.

After 9pm and instead of easing , its gotten even worse.

Shaping Policy: 25% Download/ 12.5% P2P

I left Mweb cause was getting throttled on downloads . But at least I could game online.

Now. Getting heavily shaped on downloads and unable to play online for the past 2 weeks. cause of getting over 350ms to Eu when playing Hon.

Why am I still on 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P shaping at this time of night. I haven't even done 60GIG on my 4mb line this month. I've been patient but this is getting ridiculous. Others are still downloading happily at over 300kBs (on torrents and I can't even download from legitimate websites) . We have 2 lines and 2 accounts with you and we have a combined total usage of 135GIG this month. That is not abuse on two 4MB lines surely?! Seriously considering moving one if not both lines elsewhere.
 
Hey Afriman/guy/girl

I currently have 4mb home uncapped account, if i upgrade to 10mb home uncapped bundle which includes the adsl line how does it work? Do I have to notify Telkom or do you guys do all that stuff? how does payment work if the line is transferred halfway through the month? How long does it take? And finally how long does it take if I decide to unbundle the line in the future? Thanks.
 
11pm Shaping Policy: 75% Download/ 75% P2P Guess we're about to become night owls again like on the R7 weekends back in the day.
